So...this has bothered me for a while...but when does everyone think this competition will actually get over? I'm shooting for about 11:30-12:00 PM.

Who knows, maybe we will. Depends on our winter formal date.

Wouldn't that be a wonderful drive... all the way across Iowa, border to border... Exciting...

Should Omaha Westside attend Great River 2009?
(YES!)

Who knows, maybe we will. Depends on our winter formal date.

It's like your announcing next week's most scandalous soap opera.

Will Antonio kiss Cheryl? Is Anna really dead? Does anybody even care?

I really like all of your dramatic questions thrown in there.

Will the cafeteria serve chili? How will the meat to beans ratio be?

Will "Great River" have an annoying day round MC like last year?
(No.)
Will I keep bringing up that we have two full scholarships to Show Choir Camps of America that go to the Best Male and Best Female Soloists?
(Yes.)
Will Mr. Temple attend?
(Maybe? We hope so?)
Will there be fun "shout outs" like last year?
(No.)
Will "Great River" blow all other competition out of the water held on that day?
(HECKS yes!)
Will "Jorge" be there?
(No. But Adam Peters will.)
Will Linn Mar receive a troll for every member again?
(Sadly, No.)
Will Ana abandon Totino at Waconia after day round to join us for finals?

I want to make predictions... but seriously... for the second year in a row, this competition is impossible to even begin predicting.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy has done what I stated before... started off the year a little bit rocky at Linn Mar... and are now at the top of their game. They will be ready to whomp out another GC trophy.

I have seen Sauk Prairie's show four times now... the last time this past weekend at Logan... and let me tell you. They are ready to take hold of that big Broadway-Touring-Groups stage (at the Adler, our venue). Their vocals were stunning and their performers are true actors and actresses through and through.

Linn Mar placed low at Urbandale... but I really do believe they'll put up a hard fight at "Great River" to show that they belong at the top. They're the kind of group that is sent to the "naughty corner" one weekend and then the next weekend, bursting like a bat out of hell. (weird analogy, I know... but it's late, and it's meant in a positive manner)

As stated before... Washington consistently (this is a proven fact) does their best work at Great River... I assume this year will be no different.

Davenport North has come off of a very positive weekend. Snagging the Best Vocals trophy at Troy is going to boost them a bit. We'll see how much. They also had a Best Male Soloist... will it be Joe Maddox or Diandre Neville from Linn Mar who snags the award and full ride scholarship to SCA? We shall see... or will it be an outside party?

Mt. Prospect... the big mystery group! This is their FIRST competition! Will they be ready? Will they still be on a high from their Grand Champion finish in 2005? (that was 3 years ago!)

Iowa City West has BEAUTIFUL vocals! Will their choreography match?

Iowa City High has been all over the board this season, will they place high or low at GR?

Crete Monee broke into finals at Danville... will they have worked out some of the kinks out of their show to make Benford's homecoming to "Great River" grand?

I love posting all of these possibilities... I know it probably drives everyone crazy, but really... "Great River" is SOOO hard to predict!

I really like all of your dramatic questions thrown in there.

I may make an appearance at this competition...

Predictions in no order:

Iowa City West "Good Time Company"
Sauk Prairie "Executive Session"
Davenport North "Northside Establishment"
Linn-Mar "10th Street Edition"
Cedar Rapids Washington "Momentum"
Cedar Rapids Kennedy "Happiness, Inc."

I know absolutely nothing about Mt. Prospect, so that's why they aren't on this list. I have either heard in-depth comments about or seen each of these groups so that's why I've got them.

Middle schools will not be judged on their combos.

We gave a best combo award to the middle schools on Friday night at Urbandale, but it was mostly because the awards company messed up and gave us an extra Best Band plaque. It's kind of comical judging bands for middle school groups though since 99% of them are the director on an acoustic piano and maybe a drummer.

Waukee Prairieview's "High Voltage" walked away with the best band award. They have a very impressive band composed entirely of middle school students.
