I recieved this e-mail today from an adult from Benton... they wanted me to pass it along...
I decided to send you a note because I noticed you put up some predictions, as others have done, but because you students probably haven't seen our rules, you don't realize something. Similar to Jefferson and Washington's comps, we guarantee the highest scoring group from the combination of 1A/2A, 3A a spot in the evening finals. But the difference in our rules is that it is included as one of the final 6. If a group from one of those classes is already one of the top 5 scoring groups then we take the overall 6th scoring group, regardless of size. (Prep is not included in this special rule, although Prep can, and often has made finals by scoring in the top 5).
As everyone begins to make predictions, this just adds another factor to consider. In some competitions, such as Totino Grace, they only have 5 in the finals, each competition has it's own rules. Please feel free to share this information with the board. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to e-mail me.
Another thing you might want to share with the group is that this year at TOC we are having a karaoke room, it's non-competitive and rated "just for fun". We have asked directors to share this info, but sometimes these things don't get communicated. We have many cds/tapes available, but we encourage students to bring their own also. Don't forget to sign up when you get here, limited space is available. Signs will be posted around the school. It should be lots of fun!

Totino Grace has 6 groups in finals, just to let you know. last year it was:
GC: GCS
1st RU: Sioux City East
2nd RU: Davy NOrth
3rd RU: Waconia
4th RU: Hastings
5th RU: Bloomington Jefferson
I kind of already knew that, but maybe someone else missed it.... Anyway, thanks for putting your faith in Cedar Rapids, Jorge. We'll see what happens.

I honestly think Clinton will not take grand champion at Benton. I think CR Kennedy or Jefferson will beat them. You may think I am crazy... but just think about it.
I feel happy that Jorge has spirit enough to say people can beat Clinton, I could care less, I just wanna see them.
I might not even be seeing Happiness at this comp... They perform right after us and they might do the same in finals... Bummer... But I will see Clinton right out of our performance. I'll bring a notepad so I can critique their show and I'll get back to you guys on that.

No kidding! And their web site hasn't been updated in a long, long, long time. It seems Benton will be their first contest of the season, could it be they are really doing something different this year - hence a more 'out of the way' contest, and nobody having ANY news on them yet?
One thing will change for SURE after this weekend - the mystery will be over, and there had better be a pretty detailed report on this! (wish I could be there, but I've already had plans to go to Urbandale for months now - made before I knew Attache would be at Benton... Oh well...)
Anyway, I thought Kennedy was terrific last month at Linn-Mar - I hope they have a good showing!

GC: Attache'- Hard to see them not win it, never seen them, but one of the best is what I have heard
1st Runner-Up: Either Westside Delegation or Happiness Incorporated- Haven't faced each other yet... We'll see how they do. Happiness beat WSD last year, WSD beat Happiness for many years before that
2nd Runner-Up: The one that isn't the first runner-up. See above.
3rd Runner-Up: Momentum- I think they're better this year. They belong in this spot. There ya go Mocevifan and Techgurl.
4th Runner-Up: SC Heelan- We don't get to see them very often in this part of the state, but I've always enjoyed their show.
5th Runner-Up: CR Kennedy (Protege')- As the probably the best prep show choir at the contest, I really just believe that they're the sixth best show choir here.
Alright, I just know we have to make night rounds. well, I don't know....but I really hope we make night rounds....even if we get last in night rounds....i just wanna make it. I have been in Mo for 3 years now and this has never happend like this before....
