I saw one of the Grand Island schools - I wanna say it was senior high. They were ok... All I can remember from this particular show was that they did some number with kites. It was kinda cute, but highly cheesy.... and I saw Omaha North's show too - but for some reason I can't remember anything about it. I'm pretty sure they wore the denim outfits for their closer. Wow, that doesn't help at all..... I do'nt think I was highly impressed by anything and that's why I really can't remember anything.

I can remember Davenport's show though - so don't think I wasn't impressed. I loved the Lion King... and the ballad was pretty awesome as well. I love the guys' costumes at the beginning; I thought they looked really darn cool! And Steam Heat... I played that for pit in 11th grade.. brought back horrid memories - you guys did it really well, I just absolutely despise the song! hehe!!

Omaha Westside is the only other choir I can remember... and I don't even remember that much. You did Louder than Words - which made me happy! I love that song a ton!!

Wow, I feel like the biggest dork for not being able to remember anything about this comp.

I enjoyed meeting Jorge and David - for the whole 5 mins. I was able to talk to ya! haha! Sorry I had to cut it so short, the ppl I was with were flipping out cause they wanted food, and they did not understand that I was going to go talk to ppl! Ugh!! Crazy college kids...... but anyhow... it was lovely meeting those two - now I can put faces with the names!! hahaha!

Did anyone notice how many "west"ern schools were in finals: Omaha WESTside, Davenport WEST, Millard WEST, Grand Island NorthWEST - I found that entertaining.

What were the results from this comp last year?

I never got to see Ankeny either, but I did see Davenport West, Westside, one of the Grand Island schools and Omaha North. Just based on what I saw, I liked Dport West and Westside. The guy who best male soloist was really good - in fact, all the soloists from Dport West were good.. I was amazed!! But what shocked me was that Sarah didn't get Best Female soloist for the day. Her solo was soooooo unbelieveable!!! I never heard the chick who won, but obviously she must have been pretty good. Hmm.. yeah.. I can't really give any insight cause I really don't remember anything. I wasn't there the whole day - I went at like 4ish.. and I didn't leave til 8 (the comp. was a bit behind schedule for most of the day I think)

I know a ton of ppl who were there all day though, so I'm sure I can ask their opinions on everything and maybe actually post some decent stuff. Who knows... but all in all, it was fun to watch show choirs again!

oh my gosh, i can't believe there's a topic for this already! i was so excited about getting to make one! okay, here's the break down.

GC: Ankeny
1st RU: Davenport West
2nd RU: Omaha Westside
3rd RU: Grand Island Senior High
4th RU: Grand Island NW
5th RU: Millard West

Best Vocals: Ankeny (i think)
Best Choreography: Ankeny (i think)
Best Visual Effect: Ankeny
Best Combo: Omaha Westside

Solos:
1st: David Tahere, Davenport West
2nd: Amy Heideman, Seward
3rd: Sara Uolloa (i hope i spelled that right), Davenport West
Honorable Mention: David van/von Something (i don't remember his name but he was da bomb on piano!)

i might not have remembered all the captions. oh, millard west won the women's division and i think ankeny won the prep division. all in all, it was a solid competition. i'm really mad i didn't get to see ankeny because i was getting ready. i heard their energy was incredible, though.

david and jorge, SOOOOOOOO great to meet you guys! i wish you guys went to my school, you are so nice and friendly! david and sara, your voices are incredible. every good thing anyone says about these people is true! i wish i could have competed in the finals for the solos, but it was my first solo competition and i was nervous and worried about my accompaniment and didn't really get into the song. oh well, i've got one more year!

i don't want to be the first one to start giving opinions about placements and stuff, so i'll wait to see what other people say. very nice competition with a lot of great people. keep in touch! ;)
