2004. Here are the results from that competition.
Grand Champion: Clinton (MS), Attaché
1st Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Westside Delegation
2nd Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Happiness Incorporated
3rd Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Protegé
4th Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Washington, Momentum
5th Runner-Up: Union, Union Station (1A/2A Division Winner)

Clinton competed at Benton in '04. Supposedly their director had something against Reese and wanted to beat Jefferson before Reese went back to school to get his master's. But you know how show choir drama goes. It's probably 100% fiction.

It is on Kennedy's website that they will be returning to Urbandale instead of coming to Benton.

This competition was when I first fell in love with West Side Delgation! I will forever remember sitting in the bleachers and watching "Ive Got Rhyhtm" it was SOOOO thrilling!

Ah! We're going. I loooove this competition. It's by far my favorite. I've been going since I was in 4th grade because my brother used to be in WSD. Hopefully I'll still be able to come after I graduate.

Originally, Davenport West was signed up for this one... but after further review of our competition schedule, we noticed that we were not making a visit to the wonderful Badger/Cheese State (Wisconsin)... so we will not be making our first trip to Benton, instead, our second trip to Logan High School in La Crosse. Maybe next year though!

Who else is going? This was my favorite competition by far last year. It's so well organized and well-run. I heard that a lot of good groups are making the trip to Van Horne that haven't in the past or didn't last year, too..
