In the west coast we have four divisions, intermediate and advanced for both mixed and womens, but had that been the case, sound sensations probably would have competed up not in the prep division, they have everytime they've gone to a nationals that didn't have a Single-Gender division. =)

that's cause they're not a prep group. lol. i explained this earlier, but we have four choirs at burroughs, two prep, intermediate groups, and two advanced groups. one girls one mixed. sooo....
you didn't look at them like a prep group, cause they're not. haha.

Well in Iowa, we usually only have 2 divisions: Prep and Varsity class. We very rarely have Single-Gender divisions (in fact I can't think of a competition that we do have Single-Gender division). Unless you were to request the girls group to be in Varsity class, they would've been in the Prep division

Sound Sensations: By far the best female group I have ever seen. Its really rare to find an all girls group that takes the stage like you guys did, I didnt view you as a prep choir, but as another varsity choir that should intimidate many varsity mixed ensambles.

Just got my FAME dvd- and DANG. I was blown away. Thought I would give my two cents to each group:

Sound Sensations: By far the best female group I have ever seen. Its really rare to find an all girls group that takes the stage like you guys did, I didnt view you as a prep choir, but as another varsity choir that should intimidate many varsity mixed ensambles. Your choreography was clean and energy was very high. Way to go girls!

South Jones: I haven't ever seen you guys before, but that is for sure going to change. I loved your opener and the confidence you guys had as you took the stage with the nations best. A very clean and powerful show that you all should be very proud of. Congrats!

Waubonsie Valley WOW! What improvement from the beginning of the season! I was nearly brought to tears during your ballad, it was so powerful and you sung it with such great emotion. I have to say that out of all the openers I have seen in my day, your's is by far one of the best. A great start to your show. Even though you guys went down a place in finals, I fully view you all as champions. Congrats on an amazing season.

North Central: A stunning show as usual. Also, a very unique one, as usual. I loved "Please Don't Stop the Music." It was very very unique, but after watching it a few times it really grew on me. Whoever that soloist is in your ballad (the girl) she had BETTER keep singing after High School, because she was incredible. Wow. You are known for your amazing ballads but this one has got to be one of your best of all time. Very nicely done. I also very much enjoyed the Mexican feel to the end of the show. I havent seen very many groups do a style such as that, but you for sure did it well. Your choreography was very crisp and vocals, as usual, stunning.

Clinton: In my opinion, you guys should have tied for Grand Champions. Your choreography is so dang flippin intense and somehow, the cleanest out of any group I have ever seen. I absolutally love your opener, you all look like you are having so much fun, and that each and every one of you fully understands the purpose of what you are doing. I love your 2nd number probably most of all. Its a real audience pleaser that you guys capture very well. Congrats on yet another incredible season, can't wait to see your show next year!

Burroughs: THE grand champions. I first saw your opener in HD, and holy cow did that blow me away. You guys are so intense and into what you put on stage, that I have no question that you guys deserve the title of Grand Champions. I have never sat down and watched one of your shows start to finish until today, and I'm wondering why I havent. The flow of your show is so amazing. Your vocals are probably among the best I have ever heard. I was rooting for you all to win this competition, and I'm so glad you did

I wish so badly I could have seen this live. The DVD is so amazing that I can't even comprehend how good the live show must have been. Congrats once again to all of these finalists, they all truely are champions.

Topsy Turvy was the second best closer I saw all year! It was second only to the last three songs of Powerhouse's set.

Awww, thanks! It's a lot of fun to perform (hopefully you can tell) and we have so much fun doing it.

:>

Tonight's performance is from North Central's "Counterpoints;" their high-energy dance number, "Don't Stop The Music" (originally performed by Rhianna).

North Central "Counterpoints" - Download in full 1080p High Definition

I'm not Orbie, but I'll answer that....

No, the band consists of me on piano/keyboard, a math teacher on bass, and former students (circa class of '02) on drums and guitar. Until 2005 that's all we had. In 2006 we added a second guitar (a student) and 4 horns (all students). Last year we added a percussionist (a student). This year we increased to 7 horns (still all students) and have a 2nd keyboard that is either played by Orbie, or by the guitar2 guy. Our percussionist this year is a new guy, who's 20 or so.

Hope that sums it up. I was very proud of our student band members this year, including our all-student horn section. One of these days we'll get that caption!

Dan
