No, the band consists of me on piano/keyboard, a math teacher on bass, and former students (circa class of '02) on drums and guitar. Until 2005 that's all we had. In 2006 we added a second guitar (a student) and 4 horns (all students). Last year we added a percussionist (a student). This year we increased to 7 horns (still all students) and have a 2nd keyboard that is either played by Orbie, or by the guitar2 guy. Our percussionist this year is a new guy, who's 20 or so.
Hope that sums it up. I was very proud of our student band members this year, including our all-student horn section. One of these days we'll get that caption!
Orbie, are all John Burroughs band members students? Just wondering.
No, all our horn players are in high school when i play in the combo i am obviously in high school and one of the guitarist in the band is in high school
Their opener is Tye Tribett's "I Want It All Back" It's hard to find but i'd recommend his CD... he's an incredible writer, and you thought WV's version is good, i can't imagine it would be ANYTHING compared to the original.
(I LOVE GOSPEL)
thank you thank you!! i found it on Rapsody.. its really cool.... its different, but still really cool - OH, and its a lot slower... WV rocked the socks off of this one!!!
Just to set the record straight, Sound Sensations didn't make finals at Branson '05. There were semi-finals and then finals, and they made semis. Only three groups made finals.
However, I do agree that our girls outdid themselves at Chicago, and competed about as well as possible against some very good mixed groups; and that they're the best girls group in the universe! Objectively speaking, of course.
Dan
and "assuming there's no other choirs on other planets" right dan?
hahaha

Hey everyone, just have a quick question but first off, I wanna say that I had the TIME OF MY LIFE at FAME in Chicago, (i'm in CP by the way!) and it was just the COOLEST thing to perform with these incredible choirs from all over! What a BLAST, and thank you for making it unforgettable!!!
my question (someone already asked but I still don't know the answer)
what's the name of the song that was played while we were waiting for finals announcements...it had the words "greatest show on earth" in it, but it was really creepy/surreal sounding...it kind of scared me then, but looking back, i think i was just out of my wits nervous, and it was a real tight song!
Lemme know if you know the answer!!! (i already checked and the christina and michael jackson songs aren't the one i'm looking for)
Haakon- this has to be the most incredible show choir taping ever! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. And of course thank FAME for letting you share this. It's just so pure and beautiful I can't wait for the rest!!
The only thing better would be to have a southwest region over in the regions forum
Just kidding- I know you'll take care of it- just like to bug. " border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
haha i was doing the same thing
i believe their opener was three songs combined into one. and they called it "Opener" i believe...
but like i said i think its 3 songs... don't quote me though...
oh orbie what was that conversation we had in chicago?? the one where i said i loved wv's opening songs and you said it was only one song, and you called me dumb and i said it was definitly more than one song, it was a medley or something... oh right! lol.
i tollld you. haha
and allie: oh my god, i am laughing so so so so so very hard at your handle name. it should just be the last of the glamazon's, that's what joel called me. haha. but then you came!

i'm just really tired of people not recognizing that chicago was the 1st time SS has ever made finals with advanced mixed choirs [and we were up against some of the BEST in the country], and that's saying a LOT.
Sound Sensations made it into finals at the Branson Cup in '05
Well you are the best girls group i've seen in a long time. But still no Girls group could ever get GC at a competition like this, but you guys CERTAINLY set the bar at a much higher level for future girls groups. Great Job.
i FULLY understand what you're saying.
and I respect that no girl's group could ever get GC at a national advanced mixed comp.
it's like trying to compare apples to oranges.
it just can't be done.

thank you for the compliment.
i'm very honored to be a part of my choir.
i love you SS 07-08!!!
then would you care to explain why we[sound sensations] made it to finals???
[not trying to be rude, i'm just sick of people underestimating us]
