You mean Carmel, Ankeny, Burbank, Center Grove, Fairfield, and LaCrosse Central have NOT been added to the line-up?!? " border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> " border="0" alt="ermm.gif" /> " border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I'm getting news that two more choirs have joined the competition at the last minute. can anyone confirm this?

I'm going to venture to say that this "news flash" is probably false. To pick up TWO groups the day before the competition is kind of not likely.

Where is your news coming from?
Could you may have meant two more judges?

So yeah... folks, don't get your hopes raised that Ankeny and Carmel are going to show up. lol

Anyways...

Clinton is nearing Waukegan.
Ana is still painting her finger nails.
And I am still doing laundry.

Any last min. predictions for Chicago?? I've kinda revised mine:

Before:
Grand Champion- JBHS
1st Runner-up- North Central
2nd Runner-up- Clinton
3rd Runner-up- Waubonsie Valley
4th Runner-up- South Jones
5th Runner-up- Kennedy

Best Vocals- North Central
Best Choreo- JBHS
Best Band- Clinton

Now:

Grand Champion: JBHS
1RU: Clinton
2RU: North Central
3RU: W. Valley
4RU: S. Jones
5RU: Kennedy

Best Vocals: JBHS
Best Choreo: Clinton
Best Band: Clinton

After giving things a lot of thought and watching Clinton's new performance at SCN, I doubt they will get less than 2nd. And their choreography is going to be tough to beat no matter who they are up against. I think its pretty up in the air between W. Valley and North Central as well, and also between JBHS and Clinton. I would venture to say 1st and 2nd is between JBHS and Clinton, and 3rd and 4th is between W. Valley and North Central.

Ok, so a checklest of everyone that has officially arrived: Burroughs & South Jones. That means Clinton probably isn't very far behind Jones (I say this because there us nobody to confirm Clinton's arrival)

After a 17 hour bus ride, South Jones has finally arrived in Chicago, safe and sound.

North Central from '04 was pretty intense as well. As was Fairfield last year. Granted, not quite the same situation, but a great field of competition nonetheless. Kast year at Fairfield was Clinton, Marysville, Eiesnhower, Hurricane, Findlay, Norwell, Zionsville, Beavercreek, FC. NC had Clinton, Lawrence Central, Zionsville, Laf-Jeff, Huntington North, CR-Jefferson. Not the greatest fields of competition, but still pretty darn good.

Fairfield was also at North Central 04.

The Illinois weather is not looking good at the moment. It's raining very hard on the interstate as we speak. We left at 10am (central) today, on what was supposed to be about a 13 hour drive; we're still a couple hundred miles out of Chicago.

you can't have the "best competition ever" in the last 10 years without Clinton and Burroughs both being present. Just my opinion.

That is so true.

Back to the topic though, This competition is going to be so amazing. Good luck to all of the groups performing because whoever wins will definetly have needed a little luck haha. When you have groups at the caliber of Clinton,Burroughs, NC, WV, etc...Who all do just about everything at such a high level this competition will simply come down to which style the judges prefer on that day.

Good Luck again to everybody and may the best Choir win! Let's get it on! haha(can you tell im pumped)

I guess you could look at the "greatest competition" 2 ways

1. Fame Chicago: Most competitive for the GC, but doesn't have a whole lot of depth

2. Onalaska '04: Had astronamical depth, but most groups were basically trying to survive into finals.

It depends on which view you take as the greatest competition goes

I guess some of us are just ill-informed. Would anyone like to tell us what really was the hardest competition of all time? Clearly there is a definite answer, and it wasn't in the Midwest, and it wasn't in the last 5 years.

Easy there. I was not intending to infer that I held the secret to the greatest show choir competition of all time - just that I think people were being rather quick to crown any competition at all. The reality is that the entire history of show choir pre-dates about 95% of us here - including me - so I don't think any of us are really qualified to make such a statement. There's a lot that goes into making a great competition... and as many people have offered, there are different ways to look at it.

That being said, in my mind, you can't have the "best competition ever" in the last 10 years without Clinton and Burroughs both being present. Just my opinion.
