Maybe your 55 short posts in this topic alone has made it a bit larger than it should be. Ever think of that? " border="0" alt="sly.gif" />

..sorry?

Bus leaves in 2 1/2 hours. And I still have managed to pack nothing. Thanks for distracting me with XBox, Haak.

Again, I'll call out The Classic 2004 at Onalaska High School. What was amazing about that competition was not only the caliber of the top groups there, but the sheer number of high quality groups. I don't know how the two will ultimately compare, but I would say that it was one of the most hyped competitions I've seen since I started with show choir. There were I think 2 Big Dances that also got quite hyped in our area.

I think that the thing about Onalaska 2004 was out of the 20 some groups i would say almost all of them made finals consistantly. I think it is still the best. People base FAME Chicago off of 3 groups. There are about 5 or 6 that are really good but lets look at the entire picture. Onalaska is the grandaddy of them all.

I mean look at the line-up... It was a once in a decade thing. (This is Ana's info from another topic)

1. Mt. Zion (with best choreography)
2. GCS (with best band)
3. EEE (with best vocals)
4. Totino-Grace
5. Franklin Central
6. Buffalo Grove
--
7. Urbandale
8. Teays Valley
9. Omaha Westside
10. Fort Atkinson
11. Mitchell
12. Sauk Prairie
13. Waconia
14. Crete-Monee
15. Bemidji
16. Iowa City West
17. Wheaton Warrenville
18. Milton
19. Altoona
20. Brodhead
21. Urbandale "Vitality"
22. Linn-Mar
23. La Crosse Logan
24. Parkview
25. Washburn
26. Hudson
27. Neenah
28. DePere

Yeah Fame Branson 2005 was a good bunch of groups, and Ona 2004 was just nuts for more than a few reasons...

But i think this is the record isn't it?

Thank you for finally dispelling the myth, hours later, that we were renting a yacht... maybe we will now stop receiving text messages from gullible show choir peeps inquiring about it. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I definitely almost texted you a minute ago. But you know, it was just to play along with the story. Not because I'm gullible. Or that I thought you really had a yacht. Because I didn't think that. No way.

I think something that's unique and special about the Chicago competition is that there is not only an exceedingly strong roster of choirs attending, but those choirs hail from (and represent) show choir programs from nearly every corner of the country. Onalaska had a stellar lineup of midwest choirs, but that made it what it was - a fantastic midwest showdown.

FAME Chicago, on the other hand, not only has phenomenal midwestern groups like North Central and Waubonsie Valley, but the heaviest of hitters from the West Coast (Burroughs) and the South (Clinton). Granted, there are several groups absent from this event that would easily make many peoples' "national top 10" lists, but this is probably about as close to any kind of "nationals" competition that we've seen in a long time. I think that's one of the primary reasons there is so much enthusiasm about this event in particular, even though there are many other competitions happening across the country which feature choirs of the highest caliber.

You, sir, are NOT welcome on our yacht.
