Again, I'll call out The Classic 2004 at Onalaska High School.
I think something that's unique and special about the Chicago competition is that there is not only an exceedingly strong roster of choirs attending, but those choirs hail from (and represent) show choir programs from nearly every corner of the country. Onalaska had a stellar lineup of midwest choirs, but that made it what it was - a fantastic midwest showdown.
FAME Chicago, on the other hand, not only has phenomenal midwestern groups like North Central and Waubonsie Valley, but the heaviest of hitters from the West Coast (Burroughs) and the South (Clinton). Granted, there are several groups absent from this event that would easily make many peoples' "national top 10" lists, but this is probably about as close to any kind of "nationals" competition that we've seen in a long time. I think that's one of the primary reasons there is so much enthusiasm about this event in particular, even though there are many other competitions happening across the country which feature choirs of the highest caliber.

I was wondering where everyone on SCC is staying (if you are) hotel wise?
Ana and I are renting a yacht on Lake Michigan if anyone would like to come visit.
Originally, we were booked at Hotel 71 which, as you can see, looks awesomely modern; FAME recently changed our reservation from Hotel 71 to the Holiday Inn (Mart Plaza). Yippee.

Again, I'll call out The Classic 2004 at Onalaska High School. What was amazing about that competition was not only the caliber of the top groups there, but the sheer number of high quality groups. I don't know how the two will ultimately compare, but I would say that it was one of the most hyped competitions I've seen since I started with show choir. There were I think 2 Big Dances that also got quite hyped in our area.
Onalaska 2004 was a very tough one...and I think that was probably the biggest post competition melt down ever on SCC.

hmmmm well i cant find anything about it who was there? I do not deny that the lineup could have been just as good but i seriousally doubt there has ever been a competition with this much buzz on this web site.

The only ones i remember from branson 05 are clinton, burroughs, torino-grace, and spanish fork
also.... Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Franklin Central, Grand Island Senior (back when they were good).
I'm so excited for this competition!!!! If anyone lives on I-80 between Lincoln, Nebraska and Chicago and needs a ride let me know, because there are still 2 open seats in my car.

Clinton and Burroughs were both there, but the rest of the lineup - while solid - was not this strong. It's pretty well established that no less than four different choirs could way away with grand champion honors in Chicago... that's pretty unprecedented for an event of this caliber.
Chicago is probably better at the top, but I still think the Cup was a better overall lineup. Probaby best just to agree to dissagree on this topic

I don't feel like going back and looking, but it was spread out over a few different topics. I think the line up that year was very comparable to Chicago this year...

And yes, Chicago I think takes the award for most intense competition ever- and the most hyped competition ever we have been over that a billion times in this forum lol. But socal is still going to be sick to watch.
the FAME cup in 2005 had a great deal of buzz as well...

This is indeed what it means. And it will be free.
While the competition won't be *quite* as intense as Chicago (okay, maybe not even half as intense), it is the final time that Burbank and Burroughs will go head-to-head in '08.
Dang- it seems too good to be true! I can't wait to hook up and watch it live- I havent ever seen show choir on my computer live. Where exactly will we need to go?
