Shut up Wes! At least I didn't connect it to The Hills.
Okay- here is what we have written down for judges:
Marty DeMott
Eugene Rogers
Mark Myers
Liz McCauley
Judy Hanson
We then have these names written down, I'm assuming as critique judges? Not all of them obviously, but since this is from October, these must have been the possible names: Shawn Eck, Stephen Todd, Chad Alexander, and Fritz (?) doing video critique. We don't have Dwight's name down- of course, that may not mean anything.
Okay, that's all I've got!
Are you sure it isnt Liz McConahay? cause I was talking to her recently and she said that she was going to be at Onalaska judging this year. Maybe I heard her incorrectly.
and
Happy New Year!
Lol ana You would connect anything to Project Runway, easily your top fav. shows haha

Maybe what he meant is that Marty has incredibly high standards. I've always known him to be very stringent in his judging, especially of visuals- probably because for many judges, choreography seems to be the more subjective area of the scoresheet. He really seeks perfection in movement, often moreso than many other judges he sits on panels with. In comparison, we've seen judges the first weekend in February that have pronounced our choreography to be "flawless"- which is very complimentary, but fairly impossible and not true. Marty is simply at the other end of the spectrum.
For those who watch Project Runway, he's sort of the Nina Garcia of show choir judging- he's incredibly knowledgeable, extremely fair, but equally tough.
Well, I have to say that was maybe the most well-composed piece of writing on this website... However, I hate Nina Garcia so I just ignored the second paragraph. But back on the subject: I love Marty DeMott. He is a GREAT adjudicator. He also got the finals placings right at Great River 05.

I don't really find Marty to be a "Choreography Nazi". He's a wonderful judge... he focuses on all aspects equally and is VERY fair. If you look at a lot of his rankings for finals after a competition, you'll see that usually he is dead on.

I concur! If I remember correctly he ranked the exact order of the finals placings at both Onalaska and at Edgewood last year. I was at Edgewood and he was dead on with his placings. He's both a great choreographer and adjudicator!
oh i have no doubt that Totino Grace will place high....I saw them at SCN this past year (2007).
do not underestimate them.
i think they could easily place top 3.
its so hard to make predictions for this competition seeing as i havent seen ANYONE'S shows yet this year.
although....i do not see Omaha ATSC placing that high. they will more than likely be in finals...but in the bottom half i think.
MTZ and TG will most DEFINITELY be in the top 3.
and with Marty judging.....he is a choreography NAZI. that being said, i have no doubt that MTZ will take Best Choreography.
Best Vocals could go to Totino or Buffalo Grove i'm thinking.
and Best Band going to Totino.

I will TRY to find our list of judges- we wrote it on the back of some sheet having to do with some costume back in October- and to put that in perspective- I have a drawer in my desk FULL of papers having to do with costumes.
Don't David Fehr and Dwight Jordan usually judge this competition?
