SPAIN PARK-wow is all i have to say...this was the first time i saw yall and i was impressed...your show was really a mid-west show...i love it...i love seeing shows that someone would pay to see and not just a competition show...sometimes we get carried away with competitions and forget what we are really doing...putting on a show...but ya we watched yall right before we went on and i was like okay so start up that bus...yall were amazing!!!
MT.ZION-been a fan for years ever since i saw you at dannville...i seriously did not get the whats your name song when i watched it on you tube but sitting in the audience it was great...i love seeing new stuff ive never seen before...and yalls girls showed cheerleaders up....it was great...and the light up jackets were so creative...and i made sure to notice every single one was on, thats some hard technical stuff to work out...but in the end yall made finals in everyones eyes....sometimes thats better than makin it at all
HOMEWOOD-Yall have improved so much since last time ive seen yall
CLINTON-didnt catch your show but ive learned so much about your organization...yall were so nice and so was your director...i respect him soooo much for coming to our room and talking to us...and ive so much rumors about yall but i found out yall are just a normal choir that has extreme performances...yall were so nice and i respect yall so much for that
SOUTH JONES- i was so surprised when i didnt see the same show from yalls invitational.. but later i found out yall had switched some songs and used a song from yalls fall show...which was a song from South Jones 2005 that was my favorite song done that year...i still think that song is one of the coolest song choregraphically and it gets stuck in my head so easy and now its stuck in my head
TUPELO-what can i say but i love yall...yall were our friends last week and still are...yall had finals in my book....yall have one of the coooles balads ever made and a great closer...it dont matter what happened yall are a great group and albertville loves tupelo
thats all the shows i saw but i know there was so much more....so good luck everyone for future competitions...that was our last one till FAME BRANSON and then my show choir life will be officially over...i wouldve never dreamed that any this would be possible and i say this coming from a guy... that i cried saturday in warm ups from how great this is...and i will miss everyone
SOOOOO MANY "YALLS"!!! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
As i said before... ALL 7 groups were extremely good! Again..... It was totally obvious that everybody poured their heart out! I know some hearts were broken, but i have heard everybody say they gave it thier all! To me if you can walk off the stage and say..... Yep! I gave it all i could and did the best i could do! If you can say that, no matter what you are NOT second best... You are a winner!!!!!
My daughter graduated in 2005... I continue to go to these competitions just to see young people put it all on the line! I have made some good friends over the 9 years ive been involved in show choir. I will never trade all my friendships and memories of show choir for anything in the world!
If i could come talk to every group i would!
Good Luck the rest of the year! Ya never know about me..... I might just show up in Nashville at Nationals!!! I will be at West Jones this weekend running sound and lights!
No matter what... I will be wherever i can cheering yall on and trying my best to keep encouraging and being positive!
show choir..... ITS NOT A GAME.... ITS A WAY OF LIFE!!!
at tupelo, we love and support each other and want to excel. sometimes we feel like we get cheated out of what we work for but we try to keep being the best we can be.
we at albertville know exactly how you guys feel! we feel that way a lot too.
i would like to just say i had alot of fun Saturday and congratulations to all of you that made it into finals i didn't get to see any of you but i had seen albertville at another competition and i absolutely loved you guys and tupelo girls group i didn't get to see yall but yall must be really good and i wish i could have seen yall and Gold Horizons you guys did the best this weekend that you have ever done so far i think but all this is my opinion so yea
okay tupelo, i love you guys to death and we know we did our very best this weekend and danced and sang our hearts out!! none of us were pleased with the results and we expected to have a place in finals. however, as this experience wasn't great for us, we have to keep our heads up! let's not be negative and let other groups think we have any bad feelings toward them. if anything, we're just upset with the results, not the other groups. so i know you would have expected me to be the one to say something, but for what its worth to other groups we competed with: we enjoyed competing with you this weekend, but we would have liked to have joined our girls group in finals. however, we were proud of their performance in finals and had fun cheering them on. we also appreciate all the positive comments made about our show! we worked very hard and gave it our all and we hope that everyone that got the opportunity to see it, and enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed performing it. at tupelo, we love and support each other and want to excel. sometimes we feel like we get cheated out of what we work for but we try to keep being the best we can be. i will agree that alex hargett that had pneumonia would be considered an mvp for the weekend because he did amazing while he was on stage! congratulations to all groups that performed saturday because they were all great!
enough with the negativity.
by the way, TUPELO: you stole my heart fyi. fell in love with the show completely. favorite. FANTASTIC job.
why did clinton add that solo in the closer? i knew it was new but i watched a video on youtube without it and it was perfectly fine. hmm just thought i'd ask.
congrats everyone especially tupelo's womens group. i wish would would have stayed for finals just to see you girls cause you obviously rocked it.
I understand that these forums are made to voice your own opinion.. but seriously, keep it nice. Whether or not you enjoyed Albertvilles show (although I don't see how you couldn't enjoy it), they spent so many hours just like everyone else working on it. RESPECT that & respect each other for their dedication for the love of performing that we all share. We put on shows to entertain & thats that. Negitivity is never needed.
Needless to say, this competition was very competitive. I would have hated to be a judge at this competition since no matter which 5 groups they decided to choose to go into finals, there would still be many groups who deserved it. But, they had to choose and I completely respect that
CONGRATS TO EVERYONE! especially Albertville.. we love you guys!
I agree. We went all out this weekend and one of our best guys had pneumonia and still went out and gave it his all. We kicked some major ass! Albertville I think ya'll are cool people, but your show...i kinda fell asleep.
We dance'd our f'ing hearts out. It broke my heart. My last year with show choir. Its my life, and now it is over.

ALSO.....prep group? what is that supposed to mean? if you think our womens group is a prep group to our mixed then you are terribly wrong!!
I think that the point of the post has been mistaken. The fact of the matter is in regards to the presence of a female group in finals. I don't think the concept of talent is the question in this matter. A female ensemble consisting of SSA commands a completely different median of judging than a mixed ensemble of SATB. Rather or not your female group is considered a prep group, differences within tone quality, timbre, and production of sound vary when attempting to blend a group of female singers as the same to producing a blend for a mixed ensemble. I would find the task daunting, and actually near impossible to derive an effectual strategy as to determining how to equalize such different medians of scoring into a blended final ranking.
