Fort competes at Sauk Prairie, Brodhead, Great River, and Chicagoland, as well as hosting their own competition. It sounds like the main things that went wrong with their show were easy to fix so they should be even better by Brodhead.

Noone has said anything about Fort... I mean come on really.  That show is amazing and you can't seriously tell me that a group where less than half the people dance deserves to beat them.  Don't take it personally Sauk, you do what you do great... I just don't think it's a fair call.  You're all great actors but this is SHOW choir not ACT choir... where's the choreography??

Sorry once again to my fort friends cuz they got the shaft, but don't worry I think you'll start gettin your props soon.
  ;)

Thanks Sean.

Okay...this may be extremely random, but here I go.

I went out and got myself some Chinese food for dinner and along with it I of course received a fortune cookie. Now normally the fortune is just way off, but tonight it actually made me think about how it correlated to our performance at Milton yesterday.

"Every excess becomes a vice"

This is the first year that our choir has used large props. Our crew wasn't really prepared to deal with them, and it made us looked highly unorganized. Now I am not using this as an excuse because this was not the only thing that went wrong, but if it were up to me I would focus one and make sure it worked 100% of the time. In the case of Connection excess became a vice, and I hope it won't be a problem next time.

Oh and Chris, I believe this makes lucky number 7!!

Sarah U., Steven, David- I wish I could have seen you guys sing.  We went up to the door to go in and someone was singing.  We asked the lady at the door if you guys were next, and she said you had already went.  We sat down at a table in front of the door,  the door opened but we didn't go in because you guys weren't singing.  After a while everyone came out and said you guys did awesome.  I was so pissed.  The stupid b***h at the door had no idea what she was talking about.  I didn't get to see Sarah or David sing for finals because we had to perform first.  Damn it.

LOL..............Well Sarah and David did do a really good job.......especially Sarah...........
West didn't make finals for a lot of reasons..........LOL!! dry.gif

WHY DIDN'T WEST MAKE FINALS!!!!!!!!
Congrats to all the people who did solos in the competition.

Ian- you ****ing rock. That solo was awesome. Sing more please.

Missy- Your's was so polished. Haha. A whole weeks worth. You did an awesome job.

Laura- I'm sorry that your tape didn't want you to sing. Or it was the ghetto ass cd player that they were using. Anyway, you kicked ass. I could never have gone back up there and sang so beautifully.

Steve- Damn, Gina. You were so good. I love that song. You do such a good job.

Whoa everybody- let's simmer on the complaining a little.

Sauk Prairie was excellent. I love their concept and I give them credit for doing what they do very well. I loved the Fiddler theme. I'm open to just about any variation of "show choir", which by the way has no definition. If you guys came to entertain, you certainly entertained me. You had character and presence and I you completely deserved finals. Congratualtions you guys. I hold them in a high regard as one of the most respectful and kind groups I've ever encountered. Good for you, congratulations.

Davenport North- I would have loved to see you win. I'm sure it was very very close, especially with the tie for best vocals and you couldn't have been far behind for choreography. Solos- awesome. The whole show was energized and fun. I love it, you guys are great, and you're gonna be incredible this year.

I did not see Monona or Hastings or West- I'm sorry you guys feel gipped or whatever. I know how it feels but you can do is learn from it and come back next time.

I enjoyed Milton's show quite a bit!! I loved the opener and the closer. Although the time delays were a little setback, you ran a great competition. Thank you.

And West Side Delegation. I won't elaborate too much because they already know how I feel, and of course, I'm slightly biased. They absolutely deserved finals and their final ranking. I am sooooo proud of you. Polish it up and you'll be incredible.

I have to say, I am very upset with the finals results.

My top 6:

1. Davenport North
2. Fort Atkinson
3. Hastings
4. GCS
5. Davenport West
6. Iowa City

I was appalled to hear that Sauk Prairie made finals. In my opinion, their show didn't fit the definition of show choir. It really bothers me that a group that has 10 dancers in front and the rest of their choir just standing there holding candles can beat Fort and Hastings, who I thought were both better than GCS. I am not upset that MG didn't make it, although I think we deserved it more than Eau Claire and Sauk. As for CR Jeff, maybe they should just join Milton Choralation. I don't think they deserved finals either. Just my two cents.

What makes you think Jefferson didn't deserve to be in finals? Just curious.

2 reasons:

1. Your show was a carbon copy of Milton's last year. I know you didn't mean to, but it still takes away from the entertainment value having seen the same thing last year.

2. Your choreography was great, but I felt like you were all show and no choir. It seemed like after the ballad you hardly sang at all and when you did your choreo suffered.

Thank you to all of you who said you liked our show...we really enjoyed being at Milton again this year. But I do have to say...it was quite a long drive to not even make finals, when last year we were 1st runner up, and our show wasn't as good. (im not saying at all that groups should make finals just because they live far away though!!)

Our group is almost entirely new this, year and for like over half of our choir it was their first real show. So i guess we have a lot to learn. I wish i would've seen more of the day groups to see how much better they were....

Congrats to all at Milton - so many enjoyable shows. I also have questions as to how shows like Sauk P should be handled. The judges do what they have to do based on their criteria. Have Saulk ever considered just presenting without enterting the competition side of invitationals. They were certainly entertaining as were all the shows.

I'm sorry to hear that most groups think sauk didn't deserve to make finals. Kinda hurts. But it makes me feel better to know that we DID beat most of you complaining about us. Sorry we don't fit into the definition of show choir. That makes me feel great, because by your standards a group that isn't even a show choir beat a lot of you complaining. Come on people just give credit where credit is due. Hastings, Davenport, GSC, and Cedar Rapids all had really good shows. By the way Sauk Prairie doesn't care one bit about how we place, all we go to show choir competions for is to entertain... and I think we do a pretty good job of entertaining.

I don't care about some arbitrary definition of show choir- I was not very entertained by the show. I could tell that you worked hard on it but I was not very entertained at all.

They were borderline, but I thought Hastings and Fort were a bit better. Maybe us too but I can't fairly say that- but I can say I liked our song selection better than I would have liked theirs from the first day I found out what we were doing.
