i think the OVC is the same day as states and thats why winfield won't be coming

Yeah, I saw that...but I guess I just think it's weird that a school would pass up states for OVC...

thats true.
people who do well this year can say oh we are the the 3rd best in wv, because you probably are not because all the choirs aren't coming. esp 2 of THE BEST. capital & winfield.

Is there a particular reason why choirs don't come?

If all the choirs that use to attend states would come back then a lot of us would find ourselves not making the top five lol.

With that said, here is my prediction:

GC - Hurricane
1st - Capital
2nd - St. Albans
3rd - Winfield
4th - Martinsburg
In order to be the best, you have to compete against the best and not all of the best are coming lol.

lol who are you?

first off, i think it is really funny when people make unassociated names on showchoir.com to voice their opinions because they don't have the guts to post what school they are from, and even their name. if you can't do that then you have no reason to get on here and make predictions. if you are a 'wv spectator', which makes me believe you are a show choir junkie that just goes around and watches choirs, and in my opinion i think you have a choir that you are mainly for. so i think it'd be wise if you say who you are rather than go and make predicitions like that.

secondly, i would like to express my feelings on WVMEA state competition this year. obviously, people were hearing the rumor that Nitro is not coming to states because of their time slot. well we are attending and i hope we do our best. and in my mind, i know we will. i just think it is kind of funny the way we were placed earlier in the day. some people argue that it is at random, but i beg to differ. it is really awkward that cabell midland and poca are performing last in the day, when everyone knows they are both affiliated with joseph kincaid and mrs riedel from cabell midland. usually, it is tradition to put the schools who won in the previous year, to go last, because they deserve it. this would be a tie between st. albans and hurricane. hurricane is about 4 choirs from the last spot if i'm not mistaken and st. albans is around 1:30. i don't understand the rule of being random at states if the host school gets to perform last. it just doesn't seem fair at all. hurricane and st. albans deserve those last spots because they were the best last year.

third, yes i'm from nitro obviously and i am kind of aggravated that we are performing before noon. it is kind of weird that we've beaten cabell midland twice and they beat us once, so they put us down early so they have no threat of us beating them? that is what it looks like to me and MANY other choir members that are not just from nitro. we've worked so hard this year to become the best that we can be and its just frustrating to have to perform so early, when you know .. everyone's energy isn't on and poppin that early on a saturday afternoon. we know that some choirs will probably out score us this day because of THEIR time slots. a little biast or as i heard someone say, some home cookin over there in cabell midland.

good luck to hurricane & st. albans
i hope the judges will be 'on circuit' and place us all where we deserve

dude, learn a little respect...if they don't feel like saying who they are (which i can totally understand with all of the heat on here), then they shouldn't be forced to...plus, it's their PREDICTIONS, not how the final outcome will be...i could say right now that i think hurricane won't make the top 6 because that would be a prediction, and i can't think of anyone on here from hurricane that would get mad about it because they would rather go and leave it on the stage as opposed to complain about it on a website...now to my second point, cabell midland gets last spot because they are hosting...that's how it has been for a loooong time man...and the drawings are, in fact, at random, and i think that is the best way to do it, because it's completely random...and, by the way, this opinion is unbiased because i am graduated...yes, st. albans and hurricane were the best LAST YEAR, but this is a brand new year and they may very well be the best again, but if they are, then it won't matter whether they go at 12:00 or 5:00, they'll still be the best... and lastly, you get a timeslot and you go with it...if you perform before noon, then get everyone's blood pumping and energy up...if you're the best the state of WV has to offer, then it won't matter when you go because you'll be on the stage at that time to make your point and to prove to everyone that you are the best...and i'm sure every choir at states has worked just as hard as you to be as good as they are, so there shouldn't be any favors done...that's just a little ranting and rambling from my soapbox

I believe all of this started with post on another thread earlier this year and with other competition threads. Show choir is and always will be competitive. I am sure that if there was a football.com there would be the same drama.
Everyone must understand that there have been and still are many flaws with the WVMEA competition. Even in the middle school division, there are problems. Last year, Dunbar Singers were disqualified. One of the judges, with only a theatre background, accused our director of singing when he came out to direct an acapala version of our ballad. Another judge, wrote on the score sheet to "keep our fans at home". I believe that some of the problems with the WVMEA could be corrected by not giving the host school complete control. WVMEA members would pick the judges and have a school provide the facilities to hold the competiton. Choirs would be able to select their own time slot based on the previous years results. I believe that this would take away any pressure on the host school and it would make for a better WVMEA. Just my thoughts!

Good Luck to all of the show choirs competiting. You all have worked very hard this year and should be very proud of yourselves.

hey tyler just to let you know the judges will be there to see nitro perform and im sure i'll be in there to cheer for yall. I enjoy watching your show, and although you have expressed much anger with the placing...and you're right, st. albans doesn't have a classic (no pun intended) risor configuration, just remember that you could be an exciting show to wake up the judges...i say this assuming you're going really early, i don't know who goes before nitro, so im not slamming anyone...if it seems that i am i'm doing it out of ingorance of performance order. and plus...showchoir.com is not going to change the order of performance.

This brings us back to the fact that the "State" competition is not to always determine the best group in the state. ... and as far as the body suits go, our girls come to school in the morning wearing body suits for torso and they have like clear straps on them, they also wear bloomers that are the color of the dresses...usually.
