You have a point on the difficulty of a C choir performing sandwiched between two A choirs! I thought Lehman had a good show - and I thought your solo was a highlight! It just seemed so crazy to me that the the top six were EXACTLY the final six!!! Esprit performs next to last this weekend - I gotta start tabulating this phenomenon...
Anyway, that is the thing with show choir cometitions - every school can do it the way they want...we do it differently at our competition, but sometimes the host school is accommodating the schools' requests. Hope you can attend the Ohio Valley Showcase sometime! And we have TERRIFIC FOOD!!!
ah, thanks!!!!!! i'm an alto, and as much as i love being the soloist, i HATE singing that high....but i'm glad you liked the show
YAY FOR TERRIFIC FOOD!!! i'm on a special diet, and at Kettering for dinner I ended up having 4 side salads....no lie. It was delicious!

Is it coincidense that the top six groups (I am including Southmont, who had to leave due to the weather) were also the final six groups that competed in the preliminaries? Do groups that draw the early slots ever score the highest? Not to take anything away from the Limelighters, but it seems the last groups to perform do have an advantage over ones that performs in the morning. Why do competition officials not put all schools in one division together? Like at Kettering, why not have had the three Class C schools perform back to back?
Is this something anyone else has noticed being a problem?

As far as I know, the schedule was determined by the order in which Kettering received your schools information (Application/Check). This is how most competitions that we compete at make up their schedule.

Beavercreek performed either first or close to it at Kettering last year and got GC.

I know show choir members pay, but also, most (and I say MOST) kids have their parents pay for their fees or have large amounts of help to pay for it. So in a sence what are they paying? Nothing. And usually that would include hotel/bus.
To go as a spectator, I personally have to pay for gas. Food/drink on the way up there, a fee to get in for both prelim and finals. And as a choir, you usually have a room to hang out or do something, where are spectators supposed to go, the cafeteria all day?
hehe..i know exactly how u feel lol..we used 2 fret about having 2 leave when we were in the choir, now i completely understand lol
oh and mega props to the kettering people, they were super sweet with the weather and hadnling that situation.
and FYI....wehn someone was posting the final results, Kettering also sent the school who went home early who had initially been in finals a 4th Runner Up Trophy...just so they get acknowledged as well.

However big compliments go out to the office staff, espicall Mike something at kettering, they were very helpful in dealing with the rain/ice/sleet/hail/snow situation and were very prepared with the hotel information we needed. I was however very disappointed with the food, out students performed first in finals and obviously had no time to eat in the 45min break between the end of awards and their first performance. After their show all of the kids went to eat, to find the concession stand closing down and had only "brown sallad and nacho cheese and chips." Remember to feed the kids!
I agree with you. After they made all the show choir kids leave, there were empty seats all over the place. I think they should have let you guys stay.
When they told our kids they couldn't come in many of them went and bought wristbands to come in and watch, this kinda upset the nazi door gaurd, but they did pay to get in. Many of our students have come to expect this and don't let it phase them. The seats would have been overflowing if the choirs would not have been asked to leave, and if you can't let them all in, then you can't let any non-paying people in. I too like to know that i can leave the hall to use the restroom and get a drink and return to at least find a place to sit down.

yeah, most people miss that fact. You are paying to perform and be judged. I was kicked out a few times when I was in school...so I just started buying a ticket if it happened.
