I know it's definately late in coming and I appologize for that, but Marysville: Great job on a spectacular win! I'm sure it was well deserved; as I didn't get a chance to see either show, daytime or finals. I did enjoy watching you in exhibition at your own competition though! Go Swingers!

I really like our show a lot this year. We aren't trying to push religion, we are just sharing a positive message. And I'm not Catholic, so it isn't like we are trying to push Catholicism in anyone's face. We are just dancing our hearts out to a show we love.

Religious pieces of music are more common than you realize. I remember a year ago or so one of my favorite shows was one in which the choir sang a Hebrew Prayer as their ballad. I'm not Jewish, but I thought it was beautiful, and you could tell the choir meant what they were singing.

It's cool Scott if you are biased towards your choir, I think arguably everyone else would agree they are biased towards their own, but I agree with I Got Rhythm...why is your show's ballad ok, but our show isn't?

Oh and Evan..I'm glad we made you feel happy....I told you in a message, your solo is AMAZING! I wish I sang as good as you did (except I'm a girl, so I'd be a good girl singer...)

And for the record, I'm fine with songs like that being sung in shows.

Wow, I basically love you. Thanks for backing us up.

It takes balls to pull a show out like Lehman does this year. And I agree withmany posts, sooo many schools pull out songs with Christian messages every year and nothing is said. They get harped on because they are a Catholic school. Being someone who helped chose two of the songs, I know they aren't pushing religion but rather sending a positive message, NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT! Go Limelighters! I haven't been on this forum in like 2 years! haha

5RU: Lehman-- Your "i can only imagine" was so inspirational, but I don't know really how i feel about competing with christian literature... just because i think it would be hard to do. I mean, we sing things like "i can only imagine" to worship. I think i'd struggle to Worship in competition... just because competition, placement, winning... those are things that we as humans want and need for ourselves selfishly... but the songs you sang while they have the best message that there is, are meant to glorify God, not us... I just feel a little odd about Personal accomplishment/gain through the act of worship... i also understand that being a catholic school i'm sure you had no choice and had you wanted to sing Secular music you wouldn't have been able to... So i dunno
CONGRATULATIONS on your performance... i just don't know how i feel about saying congratulations for singing to God.

Scott,

I don't understand why you didn't bring this up with FC's ballad, it's the Lord's Prayer over and over again. You seem to have no problem with that (which is meant to praise god) but have a problem with Lehman's show...It's just odd. I'm not trying to start an argument, and hope that you respond with just a simple answer (if anything) as to why FC's ballad is okay in your mind, but this show isn't.

And for the record, I'm fine with songs like that being sung in shows.

Thanks for your input. This actually is our first year with a "Glory to God" theme (even though we are a Catholic school). I'll pass this on to our director so we can take it into consideration for the future. I understand where you're coming from, and I can honestly say that I've wondered how far it would take us in competition. Again, thanks.

Oh, and where are my manners? Piqua, you guys rocked as hosts. I'm sure our room was the best by far! And your show (as well as the others I saw) was AMAZING! I love the new ending to the guys' number! I can't wait to see how far you go.

I just wanted to say great job to all the choirs that competed at Piqua this weekend. I was the outstanding performer judge... and for many groups it was VERY hard to pick just one person! Congrats to Marysville for getting GC!!! I hope to see everyone around.. keep up all the great work!
