Spain Park, is an EXCELLENT Class A (32 or fewer singers) show choir, but there are certain things that I think are better about a Class AA show choir (more than 32 singers). I think if AU Jazz would have divided up into Classes, you guys would have won the Class A.
Auburn definitely gets home cooking, with the Win this year and the 3rd place last year. They didn't deserve either.
Anyways, I wasn't saying Spain Park was bad (b/c ya'll were good), I was just saying it's hard for you guys to compete with the bigger choirs (vocally and with visual effects).
I am in The Spain Park Singers. I do feel that Homewood and Eufaula were robbed. But bout the auburn thing, I feel that if home favoritism was the deal then that would be the case every year. Ya know? Oh wellit's all said and done.

Mallory ;)
that really surprises me too. i was not there, but i have never been to a competition where auburn even made the finals and i have never even heard of spain park. i just can't imagine that they were better than eufaula and homewood and i think it is a strange coincidence too.
by the way, i was at the junior high comp. last night and i thought that it was very obvious that a couple of groups got screwed big time. so maybe it is just horrible judging.
Before I give the results I have to complain about something. Although I am an Opelika HS Ovations alum, I generally do NOT have any bias when it comes to judging who the best group was.
I attended the Auburn University Jazz Festival on Saturday (Feb 1) and watched every group perform (YES, EVERY ONE). I had a sheet of paper in which I put the score in which I gave each show choir. I judged them 50/50 on vocals and choreography respectively. In vocals I listened for unity, diction, volume control, song choice, and many other strict areas. In choreo, I watched for difficulty, unity, overall effect, interpretation, and others.
First I will give you MY RESULTS (Mixed Show Choir):
The ACTUAL RESULTS will ASTOUND YOU. There were 3 judges... (1 from Orlando (FL), 1 from Indiana, and 1 from Auburn (AL). When you see these results notice the f1st place winner in each division and see if IRONICALLY they are from the same city that hosted the competition and had a judge in the competition (Also, the Sight-Reading judge was from Auburn) (The ones in BOLD, are show choirs that I placed).
ACTUAL RESULTS (Mixed Show Choir)
1st - Auburn HS Varsity Singers <--- I gave them a (89.5) 2nd - Opelika HS Ovations
3rd - Spain Park HS - The Park Singers <--- I gave them a (86)
ACTUAL RESULTS (Women's Show Choir)
1st - Auburn HS Varsity Singers <-- I gave them a (84) 2nd - Fitzgerald Women's Show Choir 3rd - Opelika HS Impressions
I'm sorry, but Homewood HS and Eufaula HS got screwed and Opelika HS should have won.
