Today during choir, we looked into our final's scores and they are as follows....
These are out of 100
-98
-96.5
-93
-89
-70-- This is the reason we went down to 4th place. we were given no comments or explination about this score, and frankly, im quite upset. We have no idea what we did wrong, therefore, it was ALL either all opinon, or something that no other judge saw. The judge that gave us that score liked 3 groups, and hated 3, and the rankings that this judge gave, were the final results. What a jerk...

Anyways, besides my bitterness, everyone did really well, and I wish you all the best of luck the rest of your seasons!

Which 3 did the judge not "hate"?

My thoughts....

Onalaska- Congrats on the win. Your band is just really awesome. I love the energy they bring to the whole show. Also, the girls costumes at the end are awesome. Vocally, women really need to step up the sound. The sound makes me think of a whiny prep group, and I know with all those girls on stage you can sound so much more mature.

Milton- Wonderful step up from your day time performance! You all had the most energy and excitement all day. The choreography was really energized during finals. Vocally, the volume is on "max" most of the show. Make sure to add good phrasing and dynamics to the vocals so you can grab the Best Vocals award next time you compete. Your "Wedding Day" is so much fun. I think the weakest song in the show is the ballad. It just doesn't do much, just sits there. The closer... WOW!!! I remember seeing that weeks ago and thinking "Wow, this is so weak." You guys must have worked really hard on it. It was superb. Vocals, Energy, and Choreography were so tight and crisp. It was amazing to watch... Great job! Keep up the great work.

Sauk Prairie- It had to be hard going last in day round and then first in finals, but you guys are pros and probably handled it very well. I didn't get to see the show because I was in West's warm up giving them judges comments that I had just listened to in my car (it was freezing cold!!!). Your day show was AWESOME! I had you in first in day round. You guys portray "Pippin" wonderfully! I'm sad I don't get to see you guys again this season... but I can't wait to see what is in store for next year. Mad props!

Holmen- I wasn't surprised to see y'all go from 1st to 4th. I did not see your day round show, but I did catch the night. The show has improved a good deal from past competitions... but I guess it just doesn't do much for me. Obviously it "did something" for the judges (which is the thing that matters I suppose. Good luck with the rest of your season.

Davenport West- It's always so fun to work with you... especially in the excitement of finals. Keep working hard for "Big Dance"... and I will see you this Saturday at god knows what time for your exhibition performance!

Mayville- Your group is so much fun to watch on stage. You can tell you guys love your show. The day round performance was pretty scary, it wasn't the Mayville I remembered from Sauk... but the night performance was wonderful. For having so few members, you sure do produce a wonderful mature sound. "Light Of The World" still strikes me as kind of random in your show theme... but the rest of the songs work beautifully. "He Lives In You" is wonderful with great soloists (crisp and articulate), but the choir needs to pump up the volume to so they can be heard. What a fun show! I hope you guys are enjoying your season after a few "slump" years! Mayville is back!

Logan- You all have improved so much! Had you performed that same exhibition show at all the competitions you have been to, I think you would have made finals at them all. The song selection is a bit random... but you perform the songs with much gusto. The vocals were superb and the choreography is noticeably cleaner. The opener is a lot of fun and I just love the green dresses. Thanks for hosting such a fun competition!

I know they didn't make finals, but I had to comment...

New London- Wow have you all improved! You guys had it all, and I thought you guys were a shoe in for finals! Great show, and great work!

And a note to all...
Please folks... remember... When you sit with you group in finals, don't be talking in mass groups during every single show that is being performed. It is VERY rude... and to hear people shushing people every ten seconds gets very annoying. You guys should know better, especially coming from such established choirs.

Logan was fun!

I loved this competition, I had so much fun throughout the whole day. Which is a nice turn of events, because lately this year show choir has made me want to pull my hair out!!!

I'd say the competition was pretty fair, except for some questionable judging, but hey, that's the trend this year!

Onalaska - I hadn't exactly heard many pleasant things about your show up until I saw it on Saturday, and I wasn't really expecting much. However, GREAT JOB!!!!!! I don't care what anyone else says, I particularly loved your show. Costumes, Choreo, some shining vocal moments. I thought it was great. Congrats on Grand Champion.

Sauk Prarie- Wow!!!!!!! I have to admit, I saw your show at Onalaska and said to myself "What the hell is this?" I hated it, however, I saw it yesterday and I was like "Holy Crap I love Sauk Prarie!!!!!" So I don't know what you did, but whatever it was was worth it. Your vocals are powerful and balanced, and you all act the show out so well. The only complaint I have is that you don't have enough choreo, but you know what? I don't care!! Rock on! lol

Mayville- I'm sorry I don't remember much of your show, however, congrats on your placing in finals.

Holmen - I don't really know what to say. I suppose that everyone has their own set of choirs they do and don't like. I'm not a fan of the show, I suppose I disagree with the use of microphones to amplify your sound. Also, some of the choreo is quite risky. However, congrats on making finals.

West- Given my biased opinion I cannot really say much other then GREAT JOB! P.S. Congrats to Carlee Weber for winning the solo competition!!!!

Milton- You have a really fun show, and you sell the opening number very well. Congrats!

Great comp!!!!!! P.S. Logan, besides being a little bit behind in schedule you all hosted a fabulous competition!!!

We had 2 baskets full of cookies. We sold chances to family and friends to win one for their choir. It wasn't an award or prize we just did the drawing during the afternoon awards. Thank you to all the choirs that participated you were all awesome and your members and families and friends were just as awesome. We loved hosting all of you. I know that our kids enjoyed hosting your choirs and getting to know you. We hope to see some of you yet this year somewhere.

Mayville: This time I actually got to see both of your performances! YES! For once they didn't schedule us right after another because I do like the oppourtunity to watch your show. At New London you guys were all there, mentally and physically. However this weekend I didn't feel that too much. I will tell you that I have grown on your show SO MUCH! You can often find me singing the opening piece probably all day long. I'd like to give props to the opening soloist...I think I'm in love with you blushing.gif . And of course, Eric..I can't even begin to say how amazing your solo makes the last piece. Your voice truly captures every feeling within that song and your stage prescence is wonderful. I believe you guys really have it in you to grab the audiences attention as well as the judges, you just need to tap in to every aspect of your show. You know you've got.

AGREED!!

Milton: Awe...I saw your finals performance and I was excited to see you guys even before you went on because I KNEW I'd be entertained. You never fail to do that for me. The wedding theme was cute, but I believe another group did a piece like it? Your down tempo was really nice and overall it was a great show.

Davenport West did the same song.

Glad to see you're still alive

I still can't believe we were winning after the day rounds... What a surprise!
I was hoping to do a little better in finals, but i don't think we could have performed any better.. Alittle upset about such a small difference between us and sauk ( 1 point ) but hey, o well.
Good Job to Everyone! This competition was so fun!

Thank you so much!! I completely agree with you that yesterday was by far not our best, or what we were capable of. I thought both shows were pretty bland, and were just good enough to get us to where we ended up. I think only having one run-through this week because of the days off of school, combined with never having been to the competition before rearlly affected us. In the end the energy just wasn't there. Oh well there is always next week..lol. Anyways I only got to see Sauk and Brodhead yesterday, but Sauk really blew me away. I thought you guys were amazing yesterday, and you could definitely tell there was a certain energy in your performance that was really amazing and brought the show to a new level. Personally, having seen the other shows before and seeing yours yesterday I thought you should have won. No one else has brings the same kind of magic and character to their performance like Sauk does! Your so genuine and unique, and I could watch your show a million times and still be entertained! Anyways, yesterday was an interesting (and extremely long) day but it was fun! Great Job to the Logan parents and kids, the competition was well run, and the food was amazing.

W-O-W!

Officially the longest day of my life but well worth it!

Onalaska: Didn't see your show at all yesterday, odd because usually I like to see how you guys are doing. Clearly, you earned your spot!

Milton: Awe...I saw your finals performance and I was excited to see you guys even before you went on because I KNEW I'd be entertained. You never fail to do that for me. The wedding theme was cute, but I believe another group did a piece like it? Your down tempo was really nice and overall it was a great show.

Holmen (express): Well aren't you guys just cutie pies! Everytime I see a show of yours I wonder exactly how Ruth gets you guys to sing so good (seeing as each of you have mics so if you weren't in sync, it'd be noticeable). The choreography is actually more detailed than I thought it would be due to the fact that one of your hands is occupied by the mic. Of course, some of your dancing is a LITTLE scandalous, but nothing too severe that people don't get over in 2 minutes. I'd have to say the one thing that I completely did not like about the show were those gold curtain things. My eyes were DYING! But that has almost nothing to do with your show. Nick, I love you!

Logan: Well hey now! After your show, I definately said probably 5 times, "why didn't they make finals at our competition?!?!". I loved it! The down tempo had me kind of confused, but that is ok. I loved the girls' shoes! The piece before the end really has me dancing in my seat haha. I love that guy soloist, well done! I really like the fact that you guys don't do much of any costume change, it makes me more focused on what is going on. Good Luck the rest of this year!

I believe those were only the shows I saw..not too positive but thats all I remember!
This competition really helped me. Our group completely felt eachother while we were there, and it was a huge emotional struggle for us, in ways probably no one would understand. In our warm up for finals, I've never felt more connected with a group of people. I really hope everyone from other groups gets the chance to feel that way sometime. Thank you for such a great day Logan! And congrats to all the groups!
