I'm still debating coming to this one. After a bumpy day at Milton, It might be nice to just sit back and watch and not worry. Or it just may make me want to crawl in a corner and sleep.
"Northern Lights" from North Saint Paul, Minnesota will be in attendence at Sauk Prairie....!!!!
Im excited, our show choir is amazing this year, BIG improvement from the failure we had last year! Good luck to all going.
the microphone thing is true, you've got it all correct. and its nothing against holmen because we love ruth and her two outstanding groups! i cant believe our competiton is coming so soon! im at mt.zion right now and i just see it flying by me already. can't wait to see you all! better say hi!
Thanks for the clarification. This is the first I've heard of a group bringing in their own microphones, but if you only have 12 members I can see that you have to get creative.
It's not that they don't have enough members... in years past they have had regular varsity groups. It's just this is their style of show; similar to "Celebration Iowa" and "Wisconsin Singers" if you have heard or seen any of them.
I think you are a bit confused. The competition has microphones to amplfy the groups who perform... but they do not allow groups (Holmen) to come in and bring their own hand held microphones for performing their show.
FYI... Holmen's varsity show choir has twelve members in it and each one of the performers has a hand held microphone that they use for the entire show to sing into. Their show is kind of similar to shows you may see in an amusement park (the little variety show acts) or something of that nature.

Pardon my ignorance, please as this is our first trip to the Sauk Prairie invitational. What does this rule mean, and/or why do they prohibit microphones? Does it have something to do with the venue? Just curious.

If I remember correctly, Sauk Prairie has rules against using microphones at their competition so Midwest Express usually does not attend.

I saw Ona on saturday night, there opening notes"Brand New Day" were very Ona, but from then on out i wasn't terribly impressed, they need a lot of work on their Dave Matthews Band number, but that is just my opinion....
Not to say that logan doesn't need work, but i just thought it was a little under par for Ona, I agree with the director comment though, i can't imagine what that would be like, i would suspect any group to be under par with a new director.
