That's wonderful! I would highly suggest making the trip to see this historic competition. I say 'historic' because it's not every day you get all six major Cedar Rapids high schools competing under one roof. It's one of the those things were the moon needs to be in alignment with Mercury or something... and 2007 is that year!

Another good thing about "Great River"... they will have Maggie Moo's ice cream for sale! My favorite ice cream!

MAGGIE MOO'S!!!!!!!!!!!!

The address of the Adler is in the calendar entry for Great River as well as a list (even though it may just be a preliminary one) of competing groups.

For convenience's sake, here's the address (someone please correct me if it's wrong.)

Adler Theatre
136 E. 3rd St.
Davenport, IA 52801

I'm so nervous/psyched for this comp! As previously stated, it's a sheer toss up. I'm not one to enjoy sitting in auditoriums/gymatoriums to watch groups all day, but I do think I'll make an acception for this weekend. I'm just excited to see everyone, I didn't really watch any groups at Benton...I was too consumed in an intense game of Apples to Apples. Good luck everyone! And to those participating in Speech, good luck to you too!

Ahh! I love that game!

Actually, all of Attache flew up for the weekend just to cheer us on. Their girls are doing our poofs, and we might even substitue some Clinton girls in if our girls get tired. (They learned our show in less than 10 minutes) " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

OMG REALLY!!!!! That is so cool!!!!! I wish Attache would come work with us!!!!

I love the back and forth-ness.

To add to it...

I hear Linn Mar is going into show choir overdrive preparing for "Great River" with extra rehearsals. With the Mississippi river so close to the theater... don't be surprised if it turns red from the blood that will flow out of the Adler/River Center.

I also heard Clinton "Attache" flew up to help them prepare. (whoops, wrong topic)

I am going to guess that Kennedy will come out with guns blazing this week. It was posted on another thread that they are with Damon this week. I don't know about you guys, but whenever our choreographer was in town, we always had a good weekend.

No offense to Xavier, because we all know this competition could go MANY ways, but I don't see them beating either Linn-Mar or Washington. Both have very good shows, and are very strong choreographically and especially vocally, while I heard the groups at Benton weren't as strong vocally as expected (although the sound system may be to blame). I just have a feeling that Linn-Mar and Washington will be step higher than Kennedy, Jefferson, and Xavier.

I'll agree with that, for sure. In response to the other guy, I do think, per my predictions, that Xavier will remain ahead of Kennedy. However, that is absolutely by no means set in stone, none of this is. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I think that Jefferson should be higher up there. From what I've heard and seen they are very good this year and in my personal opinion have a show that is equal, if not better than those of Xavier and Kennedy.

I also have some doubts about Kennedy surpassing Xavier. At Supernova Xavier was close behind Kennedy and at Benton Xavier passed them, I think that Xavier will remain in front of Kennedy. I'm not saying that Kennedy won't improve, but in the past two years this has been the time of the year when Xhilaration really starts to get better, don't count them out.

Regarding prediction of Linn-Mar and Washington being in front of Xavier, I don't believe that there is any way to compare them yet since neither Linn-Mar nor Washington have seen Xavier at a competition.

I believe that regarding the CR show choirs this will be a crazy season. (Benton) There is no possible way for me to make a solid prediction that can stand the test of reality. Good luck to all groups that will be competing.

I think it will be a great competition. The Cedar Rapids schools continue to improve and get better and better each year. I think depending on the day the groups can fall in any order. I heard that Tenth Street did not have one of there best performances at Mt. Pleasant and they were missing some members due to conflicts. I am hoping that 10th street can show there true potential and if they do this i believe they can come out on top on saturday.
