Tupelo Syergy was at the MIC at North Central about 10 years ago with a Salem Witch themed show. Their transition song was a bonkers-cool version of Metallica's 'Ride the Lightning' sung as a ballad. One of the coolest show choir moments I've ever seen. Funny the bits and pieces of shows that you remember...
I'm surprised New Castle is competing in large. But I have to hand it to their univoice group Dynamiques, they have I believe under 35 girls and took a win last night at Carroll. It'll be interesting to see how they do here. The same goes for their mixed group.
Maybe, but also... they would have to surpass some of the best treble groups in the nation. Granted I haven't seen any of their shows, so anything could happen.
They would! But taking vocals off Grenada this past weekend was huge. I have a gut feeling this could be a 2022-type year for them (beat FC High Voltage at HOA Nashville that year). With only three finalists I don't think anyone is a lock and while Tupelo could not even make it, Fishers could also miss finals as well. The only thing I'm confident in is that the points spread will be tight.
This will be a fun one. Lots of good storylines in Large Treble. How will Tupelo do against three of Indiana's best? Will Carmel Accents bounce back after finishing 3rd here last year? And will Fishers Sound continue their amazing run from last year? Not to mention Debtones are always a powerhouse.
And in Large Mixed we have Waltham coming in from Massachusetts, which is great. I wonder if this contest is becoming Indiana's version of Wheaton, attracting groups from all over.
Tupelo will for sure be in the mix with the other three, as they are phenomenal. However, I don't see Tupelo being the favorite here because the other three groups are just as phenomenal. Anyway, this competition should be a fun one in all divisions. And like you said the scores are going to be very close.
While I don't think Fishers Sound will miss finals, it seems like Fishers, Carmel, and Center Grove have been taking turns running the treble division in Indiana (and arguably nationally) over the past few years. For instance, a couple of years ago, both Carmel and Center Grove beat Fishers at this particular contest, and Carmel took the top spot from Fishers at Brownsburg.
All of this is to say that Tupelo has their work cut out for them, even with their strong performances on the Southern circuit. It will definitely be interesting to see how things unfold.
One could argue that Fishers Sound was the top show choir in the nation last year regardless of division, literally sweeping every competition against some of the best in the country. While I prefer last year's set to this year, they cannot be overlooked.
Agree….Sound has had an impressive run the past few years, highlighted by last years perfect season. Unfortunately, I also agree that this years set is not as good and they may have trouble keeping the same success.
I just had the pleasure of watching Waltham Music Unlimited tonight at Shepherd Hill’s competition. They are OUT OF THIS WORLD… the strongest I’ve ever seen them! I am SO excited for you guys in Indiana to get to watch them too!!!! I think you’re really gonna enjoy it!
We are looking forward to hosting the 21st annual Hoosier Show Choir Classic! We hope you can join us or view the livestream! It's going to be an AMAZING competition with groups from 5 states!
