This competition was AMAZING! So glad I got to make it to see this in person. Congrats to all of the groups that competed! The Midwest has A LOT of talent. Continue to be successful this show choir season. I am still blown away by every single group!

A big congratulations to every single group at this competition. This is probably one of the single most competitive and insanely stacked comps for both mixed and Single-Gender divisions I’ve had the pleasure of attending. Fishers Sound has my heart and I was absolutely blown away by the Center Grove Debtones and the Carmel Accents. I couldn’t imagine having to choose between three practically indiscernible shows that would each blow their competition out of the water at any other competition - even at a national level. I truly feel so lucky to be able to experience the absolute insanity of the Indianapolis Circuit.

As for mixed, Fishers Electrum and Brownsburg Spotlight Singers were both incredibly entertaining and fun to watch. And Northrop’s band??? Absolutely insane. I don’t even know where to begin with Carmel and Center Grove because, again, either show would’ve absolutely sweeped any other competition, even on the national level - but of course, this is the Indy circuit we’re talking about. Carmel was absolutely insane like always, perfectly crisp and nuanced vocals, insane Dwight Jordan choreography, just a magical experience. However…Sound System. My GOD. The absolute insanity they brought to the stage last night. I sat there in shock after their show. I pity anyone who will not experience Sound System live this year. Their set was probably one of THE best shows I’ve ever gotten to experience live…if not THE best. The vocals were so powerful, the choreography was UNREAL (April James never seems to miss!) and the overall show design was just so clever and stunning,. My jaw dropped for both fantastic groups but I do think Center Grove completely deserved this win. However, like some other comments said, I’m sure that every single person in that auditorium knew this would be razor-thin, as I’m sure it was. Ultimately, I really do think this goes to show the dominance of the Indianapolis show circuit nationally and how lucky we are to watch such talented young adults enjoy their art form and share that joy with everyone!

Made the long travel day on Friday to attend this one. I really am lucky if I get to do more than one comp a year (still seeing if I can make WWS work, fingers crossed). Anyway, some thoughts!

All of the treble groups here rocked it, obviously the larger groups like Fishers/CG/Carmel/Brownsburg etc. but I was very entertained by Westfield. For a group in their first ever season with a show choir, they performed like an established group that was clean and sang well. One other note, the second half of Fishers ballad here was stunning. Congrats to everyone involved in the division, there were 3 groups undefeated with no dropped captions going into this one - absurdly stacked.

Mixed Tier 1 was the first time I had gotten to see any of the tip top mixed Indiana groups live. Oh. My. God. I don’t think that there was a single show I didn’t enjoy. Center Stage had great performers, especially opening solo person. Northrop danced with a ton of energy and had an INSANE band (they were seriously so good). Brownsburg, your daytime round performance was probably the most electric auditorium I’ve ever been. Awesome costuming, reminded me of Clover Hill 2020 in the best way. Fishers Electrum has been one of my favorite mixed groups for a while, so getting to see them live finally was a treat. Awesome everything.

The battle for GC here was so close, it was basically indiscernible for me. On one hand, you have Carmel with these super polished vocals. They sing so incredibly artistically and always perfectly in control of their sound. Some groups turn the volume dial a little too far up, but Carmel always has it down to a science. Diction, placement, intonation all just gorgeous. Their ballad is probably my standout of the day. CG was loud. Like really loud. They sounded incredible, great dynamic contrast and tone. I also just really enjoy their show design this year, their soloists are great and the performers all come across so sophisticated. I did not envy the judges at all, I’m glad I could just sit back and enjoy the groups.

FC had a great exhibition, though watching them dance in front of the hole they lowered in the stage maybe raised my heart rate a bit. Probably my favorite show design out of Indiana this year and one of my favorite show designs from across the country. They also stayed super on time - got about 10 minutes behind in finals, but what can you do. All in all, insane competition and well worth the trip. Awesome venue with a great sounding auditorium, great staff, and awesome groups. Recommend you all check it out at some point!

Let’s keep negative comments to ourselves. Everyone has worked extremely hard this year and the better group came out on top tonight. I would like to extend a congratulations to all groups tonight!

My favorite contests are the ones where you can tell from the audience that it’s a close point spread. I could feel the desire from everyone tonight that they wanted that trophy! Amazing performances from everyone!!

Final results are posted. Man, it looks like the mixed results were very, very close. The real winners were those lucky enough to be in the audience for this.

Sound system left my jaw on the floor. The storytelling, precision and vocals were unmatched. Something about Center Grove will just do it for me every time.

Unbiased opinion, CG has the best show of the year, nationwide. Unreal vocals and choreo. Just WOW.

I believe the best soloist was Raya Conway from Pendletones, but I don't know if that was for solo competition or the best soloist (...if that matters...!).
