This was such a competitive event and it was an absolute honor to be able to compete. Even though my choir did not make finals, it was so close and every group that made finals deserved to be there. Congrats to all the competitors on a great competition!!

I was surprised Mitchell did not win best show design. I thought it was brilliant.

What a great competition to watch (between streams from Brownsburg and Hart)! It was so hard to try and compare these finalists. All of the shows were incredible. Super proud of Brandon and Tupelo for representing southern show choir and placing so well. Congrats to all groups!

Finalists will be announced after UNL's host performance. HoA only does one awards ceremony for all of their divisions and it's after finals. It was originally scheduled for 11:00 pm central time. HoA is currently running about an hour and a half behind from their original schedule, so I imagine it will be a bit later than that.

edit: it does sound like they're doing the middle school awards along with mixed finalists announcement here after UNL.

It may not be a Southern contest by the nature of it not being in the Southern circuit, but it appears to be one by the nature of being an hour behind. And it's located in the South too haha.

Does that order mean that Tupelo beat Center Grove in the Women’s division in prelims?

Mitchell!!! I hadn't been able to catch y'alls show yet, but dang this was a good time to finally see it! Such an intriguing show. It reminded me of a drag race unconventional materials design challenge. Some very cool and unexpected elements added in throughout. FDC never disappoints with their show design and it's just such a joy to see y'alls performance every year.

I've been watching and appreciating show choir for many years and I have to say Mitchell's show is extraordinary. The set, show design and costumes were simply mesmerizing.

GC- Westside "Amazing Technicolor Show Choir" (BV)
1RU- Mitchell "Friend de Coup" (BC)(BB)
2RU- Center Grove "The Soundsystem"
3RU- Brandon "Brio"
4RU- Ross "Legacy"
What a fun day of show choir! I could see this going many different ways, but I think ATSC has this one in the bag. Nebraska show choir has been exceptional this year from what I've heard and I think ATSC will prove that this weekend. I've also heard good thinks about Mitchell!

All of these groups are really good, I'm excited to see how it will turn out! But didn't Mitchell beat ATSC earlier this season? Also, I've heard amazing things about CG and Brio this year, so I think the Nebraska show choir might have a tough battle ahead!

Predictions:

GC- Center Grove (sweep)
1RU - Brandon
2RU - Mitchell
3RU - ATSC

Center Grove's ballad is probably the most impressive thing I've seen all year. The fact that they've lost Best Vocals to anyone is a testament to how challenging the Indianapolis circuit is.

It would truly be incredible if Brio manages to win over these groups, and the more I think about it the more I think it will happen. Synergy also has a very strong chance of winning their division, which would be equally as impressive. As far as the Center Grove discussion that is happening, I agree that Indiana is extremely competitive and that Center Grove has super solid vocals and musicianship, but I think in choreography and show design, Brio is much stronger. I also think scoring wise, they are vocally very close. I'm betting on Brio to take this.

The South is significantly stronger this year than it has ever been — nobody is disputing that. However, in competitions, it’s less about absolute strength and more about relative strength. Brandon is the strongest it’s ever been (absolute strength), but how does that compare to Center Grove, Mitchell, and ATSC (relative strength)? I’m confident that Brandon beats at least one of those three, but I’m not confident enough yet to say all three of them. So far, I’m 1-1 on their big contests this year — TBD what that record will look like after tomorrow (or where I’m even predicting them).

Is there a video of Brio's show this year anywhere?

BradleyDavis has one available on his Instagram (from Jackson Prep?)
The Northeast Jones contest live-streamed on Instagram as well — I think the link still works
Petal had a livestream as well through NFHS Network. Those are usually rewindable.
