Thank you, Lafayette Jeff, for the free livestream! You’re the best! I wish more venues would provide access so the rest of the world could see what’s happening on their stages!

In full disclosure, I was in a Center Grove choir for a year, 100 years ago, so call it bias if you must, but the male solos in this Sound System show are off the charts! I’ve seen a lot of show choirs compete, and I’ve NEVER seen the strong male performers, vocal and dancing, like this show has. They just kept coming, one right after the other! I hope they’re not all seniors & we’ll get to follow them next year! What a treat.

As a recent alumnus of the great Center Grove Sound System, I am sorry to inform you that two of the three male soloists are seniors this year. They did such a great job. The winner of the best male soloists, Cooper Peters, is a Junior, however. He did outstanding with that feature at the beginning of Song 2.

Wow, congrats to Center Grove for the complete sweep. I did not see that coming. We are spoiled here because it seems like every week there are competitions where Indiana's (maybe the nation's) top groups go head to head. And another big one at Brownsburg this weekend! I'm not ready for this season to be over.

Predictions

Mixed Tier 1
GC: CG "Sound System" (BV)
1ru: Zionsville "Royalaires" (BC)
2ru: Danville "Delegation"
3ru: Lawrence North "Legacy"
I expect the scores between CG and Zionsville to be VERY close, and I will not be surprised at all if Zionsville pulls out a win

Mixed Tier 2
GC: Center Grove "Surround Sound"
1ru: Twin Lakes "Sound Wave"
2ru: BEAT "Amplitude"
3rd: Owen Valley "Soundwaves"
It was hard to pick between the first three. Twin Lakes is very good this year, and I won't be surprised if they pull out a win, same with BEAT. Surround Sound performed well last week and I am sure it will be the same this week

Single Gender Tier 1:
GC: CG "Debtones" (BV,BC)
1ru: Zionsville "Choraliers"
2ru: Lawrence North "Bella Bravada"
3ru: Danville "Contemporaries"
4ru: Danville "Executives"

Single Gener Division Tier 2
GC: CG "Accents" (BV,BC)
1ru: Southmont "Sudden Impulse"
2ru: Owen Valley "Sweet Pizazz"

Middle School Division
GC: BEAT "Syncopation"
1ru: Riverside "Golden Harmony"

I'm so excited to see Twin Lakes perform. I've seen them twice now at their own competition and Pendleton and their show is sooo good.

Fully expecting Center Grove to dominate this competition. They aren’t going up against their usual big competitors so this should be easy wins for all CG Choirs.

Zionsville begs to differ. They've been one of the top programs in Indiana for a while now.

There is no letup this week for Center Grove in terms of competition. They will once again be challenged with another top Indiana show choir. Zionsville has been a top show choir in Indiana for many years now. They just haven't faced CG too often in that time period. I would argue that both groups are top 15 in the country in each division.

Twin Lakes begs to differ..... 18 amazing choirs going out there and preforming like the whole world is watching. It's legit not about placements, it's about having fun and putting on an amazing entertaining show. But you know, not everyone gets taught that. Some people get told it's all about the big trophies, expensive costumes, huge expensive sets, the best hair, best makeup. Show choir is all about entertainment and creating an amazing show that no one else can ever do. Just saying ???????????

Zionsville also has a drive and a family like bond, which is what I feel as if brings them up as a group. seeing how they interact with each-other at competitions is amazing. they all are always together at competitions making the atmosphere enjoyable for all at competions. At homestead this year, seeing their matching tee shirts that combined both of their shows, the loud chants before each group performs, and just how they lift each other u is the reason they have the ability to do anything. anytime I watch Zionsville, I can tell they are having the time of their lives whilst performing. That's more than evident this year, especially with how their show is this year. its like watching a completely different group this year compared to last and mad props to them for making that change because it WORKS. would not shock me if they took home an undefeated season this year, and they most definitely deserve it as well.

Oh, for sure. I think the main reason we all love show choir is because we get to watch our friends/family/peers sing and dance and leave everything on the stage. That is true no matter the size of the choir. But I also think it's okay to talk about the competition aspect because that is part of it too. That's part of the reason sites like this exist and there are discussions about things like captions and placements. It can be fun to talk about as long as it doesn't get out of hand. But I do agree it does get out of hand due to competitive spirit. We just have to remember we're all in the same boat and, as stated above, wanting to entertain and put on amazing shows.

Also, don't let the "expensive" presentation fool you. There's a lot of volunteer hours, repurposed costumes/equipment, and duct tape that goes into it too.

Friendly competition is normal but discounting your competition because you think you're better is not okay. Our last competition we had other parents and students upset that we made it to finals. There was a parent that dropped a few not great words about us in front of our students who work so hard. I even had a few students behind me say not great things, it's shameful to say stuff like that. It was the first time we made finals since 2015 and honestly they performed like they had to prove that we work hard. Never ever discount other groups, it will hurt you in the long run.

The past few years Twin Lakes has had an Amazon list that community members and alumni donate things to us from costumes, shoes, tights, bodysuits, socks, props, set pieces, ect. I can't tell you how many shoes have been on stage since the start in 2007/2008. I honestly think we have had the same boxes since the start too! How many hours does Sound Wave put in, last year is was over 300 hours including camp week, classes, and practices. This year, I have lost count since I'm volunteering this year. I'm sure many choirs put in that many hours too.

I'm just hoping for a great day on Saturday! I have family coming from out of state plus competition and enjoying the shows! Hopefully no crazy people yelling that 'well you don't deserve it, we do!' In the end, it's a trophy and a number, you won't remember that in 5 years. What you will remember is the fun you had, the songs, the dances, and the shows you saw and put on. I'm just excited that we get to compete one more time before musical kicks into full gear, and we compete 45 minutes from us (our closest show choir friends).

In theater we don't say "good luck" because it's bad luck, instead we say "break a leg".

I don't have a schedule yet for this event, but I know Danville, Center Grove and Lawrence North will be there.....at least from what I was able to find pre-comp season.

I saw somewhere that Zionsville may be going, as well. But that might be an assumption based on the fact that they competed here last year
