Is Bella Voxé considered a preparatory group for Singers? Or can the women of Singers also perform with Bella Bocé? It is always interesting when a women's group places higher than the mixed group.
Several of those groups are definitely not prep. However, it gets difficult sometimes to categorize divisions when competitions throw every kind of group together in one. Here, you have bass, treble, and mixed choirs all competing against each other! Those are what I generally call open divisions (open to anyone), however many times the groups in open divisions happen to be the prep groups and in those cases the prep label can feel more fitting. I agree that in this instance, it isn't the best match and I have adjusted it to be more clear.
Keep in mind there is no standardization in show choir; we simply try to keep things as uniform for everyone as we can. It's not a perfect science, but we do our best.
Thanks for the explanation! I mostly asked, because I saw that Bella Vocé had placed higher than Singers in a few competitions earlier this year, and I wasn't sure if it was the typical "prep-varsity" structure I am used to seeing.
Even so, I know it isn't unheard of for that to happen, like with Carmel Accents' killer show in 2019.
