You are correct. After the pandemic, a couple prep schools (Sparta, Green Bay Southwest) moved up to varsity, some schools (Monona, Logan, Holmen, La Crosse Central, Eau Claire Memorial, Milton, Colby, Brodhead) eliminated a womens/prep group, and a couple prep groups (Cashton, Campbellsport) no longer compete. So it’s led to very large mixed-to-prep (and womens) ratios in the state this year.
