After seeing zionsville show… my gawd. The new ZV is literally, everything. They’ve always had great vocals and now the dancing and visuals match. This show has everything u need and more.

The new direction of zionsville is the same welcomed change carmel had in 2015, meaning new directors bring ew ideas and elevate groups. I’m super excited to see how carmel and zv compare now. Historically, I believe Carmel has vested ZV more buuut I can be wrong.

I am curious for those who have seen both ZV and carmel .. your thoughts.

Predictions:
GC: zionsville, bV
1r Carmel
2r MZ, BC (I refuse To believe anyone out dances them)
3r WV (such a fan 2018 was such an impressive year among others)
4r Wheaton
5r John Hersey

I have seen both live and just now on the livestream. This is a real toss up. Both are great visually and vocally. I would give the edge to Zionsville, but it may come down to what type of show the judges like. Very different shows, but both are awesome!

I had Zionsville in front as well, but it was very close. Zionsville’s partner dancing in the second number was exquisite.

I went back and watched their performance on the live stream that's still on YouTube. Their vocals were muffled and not nearly as strong as a lot of the other large groups. This was partially due to all of the performers wearing masks, but also due to them being a very small group this year compared to previous years. You can tell they have good choreography and arrangements, but the execution is what was lacking. It's slightly disappointing because they were such a dominant, strong group and it seems like they've lost that fire in recent years. I hope they make a comeback soon!

They were down to 28 (i believe) instead of the usual 48 plus.

Congrats to Carmel! This comp was super close, felt like it was impossible to judge between finalists.

Spending most of the day watching this comp and Olentangy has been so crazy. The competition here is top notch and I can’t wait to see how things shake out at the end of the night. Shout out to OnStage I absolutely love their show as well as all the other mixed finalists as always. Side bar Mt Zion’s last two numbers are some of my favorite bits of show choir nation wide this year

Single-gender prelims:

1st: Zionsville Choralaires (Best band)
2nd: Carmel Accents
3rd: Mt. Zion Les Femmes

these are the 3 single-gender finalists and they’re performing in backwards placement order (zville first, carmel second, mt. z last)

what makes you think Carmel will win? I have seen both shows and I want to gather other show choir Stans opinions! no group sings like zionsville and those ladies singing cheetah girls songs is so sassy! they give it there all and have a work ethic like no other group!

I saw both of Zionsville's shows at Plainfield. Their vocals are still the best, but I didn't really love the Choralaires' show. They focused more on being funny than they did focusing on their vocal strength. They changed the words to a lot their songs to fit the coffee theme and it just didn't flow. No super strong ballad like they usually have either. I don't see Zionsville settling for second place finishes so I would guess they have made a few tweaks to the show. The Royalaires' show was good and they sound great as ever!

Why the rudeness? Carmel and FC and ZV all sing well. All have great show concepts, directors, and might share choreographers. This is great for SC in general

I'm not entirely I agree with your assessment here on the Choralaires. Think they are great vocally.
