Alright! Now that my first day of show choir of the season is finished I wanted to post some thoughts I had about the day, because why not! It was all around a really fantastic day of groups and I can say that every group did a spectacular job. The stream was wonderful with great sound quality and a feed that wasn't laggy or choppy, it was well worth the money I spent.
Center Grove Debtones are one of the best vocal single-gender groups that I have ever heard and this set reminded me a lot of the famous Carmel Accents set from a few years ago. It had the same quality of choreography and vocal sound that show possessed and I can't wait to see how this show competes in the coming season. Sound System had their typical balance of vocals that cross between a pop and operatic sound. They were super clean and sharp dancers of the quality that they have come to show over the past several years.
The tier 2 competitions felt incredibly close to me, the order I had ended up being completely different for both Mixed and Single-Gender. Every group felt like they could have potentially won, I think all 3 of their shows will look and sound better and better as the season goes on.
However, Fishers was the highlight of my day! I hadn't ever seen either Sound or Electrum sets in the past year so they were going to be entirely new. They actually ended up being my favorite shows of the day, they had great choreography and the visuals were incredibly clean and sharp. Sound's ballad reminded me of one of my favorite choral pieces - 'Come Sweet Death' - a song that I have wanted to see on a show choir stage for some time now.
These are my super disjointed thoughts and praises for all of the groups today! It was a super entertaining day and I can't wait to track some of these groups progress over the season.
Thank you so much for tuning in and taking the time to show your appreciation! Fishers was incredibly grateful that we were able to host the competition and we're so impressed with all of these amazing show choir group!
WOW!! LOVE the energy! I definitely can concur that all of these choirs were A-MAZING. Lots of great talent and uniqueness in these shows. I feel bad that you had to pay for the stream, it was on youtube for free LOL )))))). Hope to hear from you soon on some future comps!
I don’t feel bad for anyone who paid for streams but rather commend them for showing support of programs that are looking for nontraditional revenue streams this year. Piracy is not a victimless crime
The same thing happened with the livestream we had on YouTube for my competition last March, could be that music was playing in between shows, and YouTube decided to take it down, I'm not sure though.
Update: the schedule is now finalized and posted. Sound's exhibition is at 3:45 pm, Electrum's exhibition is at 6:45 pm, and Awards scheduled for 11:15 pm. You can get your virtual ticket here Virtual Ticket (Live Feed)
Thanks. The nice thing about the virtual tickets is that we are finding ways to support other programs during the season. We gladly supported Pendleton last week, knowing that we would then be hosting this week.
