1. The only caption I missed was the last one, a Judge's Award for a soloist. I didn't hear what choir it was over the applause so if anyone would like to fill that in be my guest. Additionally, if folks want to fill in the names of the best male and female soloists with their correct spellings, please feel free to do so!
2. I posted all of this in detail here in the comments, since this event featured a lot of different divisions that were non-competitive (5 of the 7 divisions were uncontested for first place). However, captions were available to any of the attending choirs, regardless of division. With our current visual format on SCC, the captions are not visible for the choirs in non-competitive divisions as the non-competitive element supersedes placement/captions. This primarily effects Pleasant Hill Hillside with their BV and Best Ballad. In a normal year with finals or more attending choirs as a whole, this isn't usually as much of an issue. Just wanted to be transparent with y'all.
Obviously, no finals at this comp, but by total scores, the groups would be placed as follows:
GC: Pleasant Hill (BV)
1RU: Neosho (BC)
2RU: Carthage
3RU: Joplin (BB)
4RU: Joplin (girls)
5RU: Pleasant Hill (boys)
Ok now that I've posted my housekeeping issues , I just want to say I watched several of the performances today. I don't know that I've really watched very many Missouri live feeds or seen a lot of Missouri show choir -- y'all make it hard for us to track you. With that said, I really adored Neosho's camp themed show. I thought it was really cute. The Good Friends/Watermelon Sugar girls/boys/combined number was GOOD. I also thought Joplin SD sounded great as well and those girls dresses were *dazzling* on the live feed. Lastly, Pleasant Hill (along with Troy) is one of the MO show choirs I'm more familiar with and I thought they had an entertaining and well executed show.
Kudos to Mt. Vernon for offering a live feed and for pulling off an in-person contest given the circumstances. When April McBaine (Mt. Vernon director) said that seeing all these choirs performing has been one of the brightest spots of 2021, I felt that.
The schedule for Mt. Vernon is now posted. Exhibition performance by "Vocal Motion" will be at 12 pm and the awards ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:55 pm. No finals.
