Does anyone have a problem with Clinton sometimes reusing songs and choreography not long after the first time it was used? This year they did freebird again along with beat it which was used in the 2015 show. Last year they did “everybody wants to rule the world” from the same 2015 show. Is this okay because it’s a completely new set of students? I’m curious as to what others think

I personally don’t have a problem with it.

Copyright licenses usually last a couple of years, so if it’s the same arrangement, you can use it within a certain time frame.

Choreographers and Directors recycle songs and choreography all the time. In fact I haven’t met a director/choreographer that hasn’t recycled at least for a spring or fall review. Some people don’t like to do the same thing twice, but personally I don’t think it should be an issue at all. Just logically doesn’t make sense to be bothered by it. Its like a callback. A way to immortalize what it means to be apart of a group and appreciate those who came in before you. That’s just my 2 cents

Yeah, I picked up on the guitar solo as soon as it began haha. Awesome.
While the show is great, I think they stop too many times between songs. I think it is interrupting the flow of the show. I think seamless transitions between all the numbers would work better

I sort of agree with Clinton's show having too many stops between songs. However I LOVE that they incorporate so many songs and styles of music in their show, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and never leaves you tired of one song. So many other groups perform a full 3 or 4 minute song and I always find myself wondering when the song is gonna be over. With Clinton, it's never that way. Their arrangements are killer. Also I think their vocals this year are the best they've been in a while. Such an amazing and respectable group.

Copyright y’all. Many songs can’t be medlied with others so you have to have a “stop”. With Clinton putting like 20 songs into a show, copyright is already super expensive so putting some stops in definitely will save money. If there are 5 songs in a medley/mashup, you have to pay the highest priced copyright for all 5 of those songs even if one song or four are waaay cheaper. Putting a stop allows you to pay the regular price.

Not necessarily. As long as there is some kind of a break between the songs, it doesn’t count as a medley. In marching band, we use percussion breaks to skirt that rule, so a four count drum fill, or whatever between songs should count for show choir.

See the STOP I said? Ur saying a 4 second break. Same thing man. The drum fill though... arguing Tresona on that would be interesting to see. Anyone else notice Wicked being in there and it didn’t win the Tony lol.

From what I‘ve heard, they will be working on speeding up those transitions as the season progresses. Looking forward to seeing what Attaché accomplishes this year!

does anyone know what exactly happened with the power during Illumination’s performance?

Word on the sequins is that there were too many fog/ice machines plugged up at the same time. I like to tell myself that PRC women's just blew the roof off the place and by the time the closer came around a show choir version of an EMP went off.
