***STALLION'S PREDICTIONS***
Mixed Division Tier I
GC: Carmel “Ambassadors” (BC)
1RU: Zionsville “Royalaires” (BV)
2RU: Fairfield “Choraliers"
3RU: Noblesville "NHS Singers"
4RU: North Central “Counterpoints”
It was very challenging to compile my predictions, and I think the results of this competition are going to be separated by very small margins. I think overall, Carmel will slip past the competition and take Grand Champion at this competition with their choreo. Nonetheless, these predictions could be changed very easily by just a few errors in the show. In short, EVERYONE BRING THEIR A-GAME. This one will be a nail bitter. Tuff choirs with some tuff competition. If anyone wants to talk about predictions at the comp, message me.
HSCC Predictions!!
Mixed Results:
GC: Fairfield “Choraliers” (BC)
1RU: Zionsville “Royalaires” (BV)
2RU: Ben Davis “Premiers”
3RU: Carmel “Ambassadors”
4RU: North Central “Counterpoints”
These predictions may seem a little bold, but a little note on why I have Premiers high on the predictions. I saw their exhibition at Giant Spec last weekend and they are FIERCE. Jerico Hughes did a phenomenal job with the show design this year, and they are performing the hell out of it. SUCH a fun and entertaining year and they’ve enjoyed some hardware already early on. I’m very excited to see how they do this weekend and I have a good feeling about them. Fairfield always brings an amazing experience and is a great singing and dancing group. Plenty of these groups will BRING IT! Very excited for sure!!
Accents is on a roll and Kouns has them doing great things. I think they have the edge over ZVille, but it could VERY easily fall to either! Excited to help host a great weekend of show choir! If any have questions on this comp, fire away!!
For anyone coming to see Small School Division on Friday, Elan and Co and Emerald Suites changed performance slots because fo travel constraints. Just a heads up!
Whiteland has bested Fairfield in the past that is true, but I don't see Fairfield being the one that misses these finals. However, it IS anyone's game.
Ehhhhh zionsville SINGS down. Their visual isn’t my cup of tea... but I dont See them losing to Fairfield And Carmel w/ their new ish choreo & style & with the comp being in Indy.. won’t lose to them either.
My guess is that Mr.HJA was referring to the difference in vocal sound between states. Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio choirs often have noticeably different sound, and that can lead to a SLIGHT vocal home-field advantage when powerhouses compete. This isn't to say that one vocal style is objectively better than another, just that judges have their preferences, and that may play out in Zionsville's favor. Maybe others disagree; this has just been my experience competing. I'm interested to hear others' thoughts.
Thank you for this reply! As long as all choirs are judged fairly and without bias it will be a great competition. I’m looking forward to it very much. These schools are absolutely outstanding.
I would completely agree with what Carson is saying. I think specifically the tone and "normal" group size of Indy and nearby Indy schools (i.e. CG, FC, Zionsville, Noblesville, Whiteland, Avon) is what he is referring to. Now, none of this means that schools from different parts of the state, different states, or even different regions cannot do well at Indianapolis competitions; let us all recall Mt. Zion's impressive feat at Fishers earlier this season.
Bingo. The score sheet (if this is an issma site) ranks vocals as 60% and visual as 40%. A better singing group would tend to do better on this scoresheet. That’s it. That’s the context.
