I'm seeing a lot of these "it's impossible to win vocals and choreography and not win" comments. It's uncommon, but not as hard as you think. Let's say group 1 scores 8 vocals, 8 choreo, 6 band, and group 2 scores 7 vocals, 7 choreo, and 9 band.

Group 2 Wins BB and GC with 23 total points
Group 1 wins BV/BC and 1R with 22 total points

At any rate congrats to ALL the competing choirs yesterday. I wish I could've seen this finals live, but even watching on stream, I think that the competition was razor thin especially in the top 3. I couldn't decide who I would've put in first myself.

It isn't that crazy, considering Clover Hill and Fairfield were TIED in vocals and choreo after the finals.

Wow, photo finish! I personally would have given the nod to Fairfield but well done to everyone and congrats!

Dude seriously? That's not what this community is about. This community is about building each other up. Give Cloverhill the credit they deserve and please stop discrediting other groups and poorly representing your alumni school.

And I'm sure CloverHill felt like they truly deserved it too. Im not saying you can't have your own opinion, but a public forum that can be seen by anyone in the world isn't the best place to discredit other groups.

Everyone has their own opinion and obviously the judges had different ones than you. But you don’t need to be rude about another group 2nd place is nothing to be looked down upon. They both were amazing groups who both were great competitors for 1st just this one swung in the favor of clover hill. You need to really think about what you say next time and think about others feelings. This is all for fun and we can’t lose what the true meaning of show choir is just because of a plastic trophy

Literally think clover hill is amazing I just thought Fairfield was better don’t know how that’s rude but I will say I’m sorry if I offended anyone it wasn’t my intention

It’s awesome how you support your group a lot of groups need alumni like you. You just have to be careful about what you say.

I am from Fairfield and was in the room. Clover Hill had fantastic vocals. Both schools were outstanding. Speaking only for myself, Fairfield leaves Poca proud of our choirs and deeply respectful of Clover Hill’s amazing choirs

Yep! It’s always tough to be edged out in finals but it’s all part of the excitement!

Congrats all! Hard to judge things from the live feeds but sounds like it was a blast and a tight race all the way up to the end! Seems like every time there is an outcome where BV/BC doesn’t win grand champs it causes most people to raise an eyebrow. Though there is a valid reason for this happening - I wonder if scoring systems that cause this should be tweaked slightly. In any event - well done to all the groups, onto the next competition!

I think people should read all the comments before jumping to conclusions. Think of the results this way:

1. Clover Hill TIE best choreography, TIE best vocals
2. Fairfield TIE best choreography, TIE best vocals

Then, by a razor-thin margin, Clover Hill was able to pull ahead of Fairfield. Either by rankings or band/show design points --- however it is judged.

The only reason Fairfield was awarded the captions, is because of the tie-breaker. To break the tie, they gave it to whoever had higher prelims scores. BUT those prelims scores do not have any correlation into scoring for finals.

Congrats to Clover Hill on the earned GC, and to all the other groups who competed so fiercely!

Good summary. I think it is also the case that there was at least one new judge at finals who didn’t judge prelims which, of course, can affect the difference between day and finals. In any event, The top two were both outstanding and I think there is mutual respect for sure. They both put on first class shows.

There was a tie in Vocal and Choreography score for finals. The rules are structured in that scenario so that whoever's had the highest score in prelims gets the award. So technically Clover Hill still had the highest score in finals for BV and BC. Clover Hill more than likely surpassed Fairfield in Band score in finals by quite a hefty margin. Thus giving them the win.

In no scenario does best vocals and best choreo not win. How many times you gonna delete this?

Joe - no one has deleted any of your posts. If you scroll through the comments, you can read your multiple posts all saying basically the same thing. They're still there.

Incorrect. In *many* scenarios this happens, at least 2-3 times a season in fact. Show choir scoring is just as amazing and imperfect as the shows themselves. Best get used to it.

show choir is subjective, once you realize this fact, your experience in and after being in show choir is 10 times better. All the groups that competed tonight did amazing! Good job to every single one of you. I’m a huge fan of Fairfield, Hurricane, and Clover Hill, and cant wait to see how each of them do for the rest of the season!
