Results on the Predictions page do not appear to be correct for places 5 & 6, based on information provided. Also, Williamsburg won Best Vocals in the 2A/3A category (Tier II/III in showchoir.com speak)
I know the points had to be very tight between the top 3 overall. There was a great lineup of high quality judges, and Benton always puts on a top-notch competition. Congrats to John Hayden and the rest of the Benton show choir family on another outstanding Touch of Class. Now if we could just convince Mr. Hayden to bring back the finals....
I wasn't at this competition, but I've seen it happen before and actually stood on BOTH sides of it. I've also been a judge for the past 3+ decades, and been involved in contests where it's happened:
In a nutshell, here's a basic example of how it could happen:
Group A wins Best Vocals by 2 points
Group A also wins Best Choreography by 1 point
Group A also wins Best Overall Show by 1 point
Group B wins Best Combo by 4.5 points
Group B is declared overall champion
As I said, I wasn't at this competition (which is a fantastic competition with a great reputation!!) I'm not pretending in any way to know the specifics. I'm just speaking in generalities about how I've seen something like this happen before. It had to have been super tight, and a great night of fantastic show choirs!
