Congrats to my MN Teams! Way to represent crazy day of competition and congratulations to all competing teams today! Crazy to hear about the OASC/Mayville tie, that’s some show choir unpredictability at its finest. Way to go Cheeseland!
I saw a stream of the final awards ceremony and it's worth noting that they announced Memorial and Mayville tied in finals. Colby's tiebreak was the higher score in prelims which tipped in favor of Memorial OASC.

Excited to see how the competition stacks up this year. I know Old Abe, NSP, and Ona have done well at Colby in the past but as @makeabelief said, “Every year is a new year”
Here's local news coverage of Colby's upcoming contest. Always cool to get publicity no matter the scale. Although what stuck out to me is that... Colby has an original polka song this year about Colby cheese? Show choir is so weird, but isn't that great. Can't wait to see that.

Crazy how few groups are competing here this year, especially compared to last year! I apologize if it isn’t possible for 2 prep groups to make finals. I know the top scoring one gets in anyway but unsure if they score high enough of a second one can make it in too. If so please let me know for an edit!

It’s probably a mixture of both. While there are groups who were at Colby last year that are at Parkview this year, the number of competitions the first weekend went down one between 2019 and 2020, as Viterbo moved a weekend back (granted, they weren’t a terribly large in-state draw) and Parkview’s competition did compete with Colby last year on the same day. With many public schools having two or less days back after winter break, it limits the amount of time some groups like to have immediately before their first competition of the year.
I think that Viterbo prefers to have their competition on the first weekend of the year, but they were unable this year because school does not start back of up for them until later. Most members of the group would be out of town.
