Was this Burbank and Los Alamitos's last competition?

Burbank will be performing at Vista. I'm not aware that Los Al has any more California competitions left.

Full lineup for Vista isn't out yet to my knowledge, but Burroughs and Burbank will both be there according to their performance schedules.

Really? Looks like someone got screwed just by looking at the captions. ???? Or maybe a typo?

GC: Burbank (BV)

Your point?

Showmanship
Best show design
Best choreo
Best costumes
Best soloist

That doesn’t get you the win in CA? What do you have to do to win my goodness!
Please explain that to me. I don’t know how the point system works very confusing. I was under the impression whenever you win majority of the captions you win the competition. Sorry new to show choir.

Showmanship and Musicianship are the only two caption awards determined by the actual scores from the panel of judges. Best show design, choreography, costumes and soloist are chosen by a separate small panel (might be alumni, other staff members, student officers, a judge from an earlier session) based on their tastes that evening; consolation prizes if you will. In addition, I know at one time the best choreography award at Burroughs would be for the content of the choreography, not necessarily the execution. Not sure if that is still the case.

I thought it was an error at first or a typo. Lol. So basically if you get both showmanship and Musicianship you get the automatic win correct? Is it just for this particular show or all of CA? Thank you for explaining.

No typos. 4 out of the 5 judges had Burbank in first at this contest. The thing is, all 3 - Burbank, Burroughs, and Los Al - are at an elite level among the very best in the nation. They pretty much compete against one another at every local contest - that's a GRIND (in terms of first place wins or undefeated streaks). It may not show in those bogus ranking systems, as someone has to take second or third, but you put up any other "best show choir in the nation" and have them compete in back-to-back-to-back weeks against these three, I bet there'd be a similar result. The results can change on any given weekend and the real winners are the folks who get to be in the audience.

Makes a lot of sense! I’m a huge fan of all 3 schools and follow their shows. I’m just very confuse about the point system that’s all.

Are the scores available online? You mentioned 4 out 5 judges had Burbank in first. I’d love to see the scoresheet for better understanding and see how they score. It would be so much easier to understand since I’ve never actually seen one.

Man that Burbank show is so fun and cool. I'm glad I got to see it at Fairfield. I think I'm obsessed with that "Oasis" number.

I gotta say, I was very impressed by Vista "Treble Cats" and their mere 7 performers. Nice job ladies!
