So many great performances today... In awe of all of these kids and their hard work! Innovation sang flawlessly, Decatur lived up to their name and brought the energy, Linn-Mar told a stunning and engaging story, both Centennial groups brought pure POWER, Mitchell had immense charm and beautiful music, Waukee performed with pure, true passion, and Synergy stretched the limits of what I ever imagined a prep group could do. I didn't come until Decatur performed so that's all I got to see unfortunately, but this contest will be engrained in my memory for a LONG time.
Oh yeah-- and Urbandale 2019 is officially my favorite show of all time.
Performing students, win or lose, feel proud in that you contributed to an unforgettable day of singing and dancing, and every single group I saw today is high on the list of my favorite shows I have ever seen.
I don’t understand how a show choir can get BB, BV, Best soloist and then get First runner up? I Love Johnston. They are amazing to watch. However, i wasn’t there so I can’t say why.
Except Ankeny Centennial ER was in the prep division, along with Johnston Synergy. So it's the top 5 varsity open groups, plus the top 2 prep groups. The only way this would make sense is if there was a tie for 6th place, and that would be Johnston Synergy in a tie with Mitchell - because we know the top 5 open placements, and Ankeny Centennial ER placed ahead of Synergy in the prep division. (or did I completely mess this up!)
Critique judges do not contribute to prelim scoring that determines who makes it into finals, but Dina Else and Lukas Warren will be added to the panel for finals.
