Here’s the live stream for the middle school competition tonight! You can probably find the Saturday live stream tomorrow on Loveland’s website.

I agree with Luv2stdy’s comments about the cheerleader type movements always winning. I am ready to see some schools that incorporate more dancing into their shows win. But most won’t because that is not what the judges like to see. Take Lebanon Singers as an example. They have a very talented group of kids but the judges overlook them because they are more dance based. Their shows are always very entertaining. I take nothing away from schools like Beavercreek or Solon because they do put on great shows.. I just think it is time for some changes when it comes to judging. Watch closely at this competition and see what you think. So excited to see ALL the super talented kids perform their hearts out.

Mt. Zion, Waubonsie Valley, Cali groups, Clinton, Franklin central, Grenada. And many I cant Think of right now. Buuuut I can see your point. There are groups that are not necessarily “dancing” that win buuuut there are many groups that DANCE. MZ got 4th and won visuals last week for example. Ohio groups in general, have great visual aspects & dances as well.

Most dancing groups don't generally win because of the intensity and difficulty in choreo takes away from the vocal quality, intonation, blend, etc. For the most part score sheets are way more vocal based and have more points in that category and in the choreography part of the judges sheets it isn't all just about how cool or entertaining it is there are categories such as execution, precision, and spacing. That's why it's called show choir. You have to find the perfect balanced between choir and dance.

Along with what Dylan said, you (not specifically talking to anyone) also need to remember that at the end of the day that they are choirs and that the score sheet is built for the best choir to win. Most score sheets are built around the concept of 60% vocals and 40% choreography.

Predictions!!
GC: Solon (BV) (BB)
1RU: Beavercreek (BC)
2RU: Brandon
3RU: Grove City
4RU: Franklin Community
5RU: Ross

2RU and 3RU could switch, I've heard good things about Grove City's show this year. Solon has really stepped it up this year so that's why I put them in GC over Breavercreek, but honestly, I've seen both shows and both have blown me away. Best of luck to all!!

Understandably, it seems like most people in the Midwest aren’t too familiar with southern show choir, so I highly recommend my fellow Ohioans to watch Brandon Brio’s show from last year! Not only did they do a great job creating a “Phantom of the Opera” show, but it’s one of the few shows to legitimately give me the feels, and that was just from watching it on YouTube! I cannot wait to see them live this year! I have a feeling they’ll do very well here.

Brandon definitely deserves credit for this being their third straight year of traveling up to the Midwest. It's always cool when different regions can collide like that.

They haven’t placed well in the Midwest. I watvhed the last three years of shows & over all they’re great. They’ve gotten 6th and 4th respectively at the last two comps they attended in the Midwest. I think They’ll do well st Loveland bc they do sing really well and that isn’t the strongest point for Ohio groups, generally. With that said, I think Franklin Community will def take this comp. reigning small mixed Indiana champs & coming off a sweep in their first time out. They, like others, will be better prepared and ready. Shall be a great comp either way.

It's not all about placement. As I said, the out of region experience will be memorable enough for them. Regardless, I'd say it's far too early to say anyone will "def take this comp."

We are really excited! We enjoy seeing something different then the same groups we always see. I hope we do better this year, but I really don’t even know what to expect!
