Just curious has anyone ever really moved up in the finals? How do the judges differentiate between what they saw in the morning vs the finals?

At most competitions the judges start off on a new score sheet for each group and scores the groups again because day and night shows can be very different! There is also a ranking system some schools use that has judges just rank the groups 1-6 plainly. Moving up or down in comps is pretty common because you know you have to bring it for that night because that show is what will give you your final place.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong- but it also looks like there are some "critique" judges that will be judging in finals.

This would probably indicate that there are some judges who didn't contribute to daytime scoring who will now be judging, and thus determining the final result. This can also affect placements.

Cameron and Johnathon pretty much hit on it. Specifically at Prairie, in prelims the judges scored specifically based on their area of expertise (vocal, visual, band). Placements for prelims were determined by ordinal ranking consensus. In finals, a few judges are added on and the finals judges are using a full sheet scoring all aspects, however there's five "vocal heavy" score sheets and four "visual heavy" score sheets. Again, ordinal ranks are used for finals placements. Each judge is labeled above with respect to their prelims area and finals area. Hope that helps as it's straight from the Prairie rulebook.

Commentator jinx. 4 of the 6 groups finished differently than day.

Btw, 10th Street won best band for varsity. They chose two soloists for prep and two for varsity.

Prep: Sofia Burke- Celebration (I’m sorry I’ve been spelling her name wrong) and Ella Crumley- In Step.
Varsity: ballad soloist from Mundelein Sound (she was amazing, sorry I don’t know her name) and the female solo for 10th Street. Also can’t remember her name and I apologize.

Prairie is almost done with exhibition!
