Post-Competition Thoughts:
I made it home finally at 2:30 AM and went to bed immediately. Had church gigs this morning. So finally I’ve got the chance to share some observations!

Briarwood—WOW. The Mr. Roger’s theme was AMAZING. Hit me right in the feels and was beautifully constructed. I thought for sure that you were going to get the show design caption. Also had one of the best guys numbers I saw all night. I was keeping my fingers crossed that you would make finals so I could see the show again! So glad you did!

Grenada—congrats on the (first ever?) GC. It was definitely a popular show design (King Henry VIII and the fate of his wives). I thought your costumes were fabulous. Also appreciated the use of the Mozart in the ballad—we need more early music in show choir. And the ballad in general was great. Visually overall very pleasing.

Jackson Academy—when I found out your theme I wasn’t impressed. And then I saw the show and really liked it! Very tastefully done. Some points were not as strong vocally (some blending issues amongst the guys, especially in finals). Shoutout to Latham on his great solo singing. Your ballad was SO GOOD!!! Great mix of Beauty and the Beast and Jekyll and Hyde.

Madison Central—I wasn’t really into your first half. But the second half was STUNNING. I appreciated the acapella ballad. And your closer (with a jaw dropping soloist) was amazing.

NW Rankin—OH MY GOODNESS. Out of all the groups I saw today, I thought you had the best vocals by far. You were the only group that I felt was really balanced between the voice parts. Great mature sound with basses that I could hear! And the dynamic contrasts were SO good. Thank you for not just staying one volume the whole time and not shouting like some other groups. I also loved the simple theme. “Wade in the Water” as the girls number was fabulous—and that soloist was stunning.

This was a great first competition of the year for a lot of groups. I can’t wait to see how they improve as the season continues. I’m going to have to start picking which competitions to attend!

A well deserved win for Grenada, one of the most creative shows I’ve ever seen.

Congrats to all the groups yesterday! It was fun watching some awesome shows. Sending love to Chelsea as they went through craziness. We heard some parents saying they reblocked their entire show before performing due to someone getting sick, and then they had another performer get sick at the competition. Hoping they get back to being their fierce self - as the show is really awesome! Heck, they literally throw a girl in the air!

Congrats to Grenada on the GC and sweep. Is this their first ever GC or just first in a while? Couldn't tell as our records only go back so far. Also, shoutout to Latham for his solo performance. It's always fun to see our SCC members on stage.

Post Review Before I sleep
I Saw all but three groups here some points
Called the Grenada sweep, so proud of them to come from where they were last year
NWR absolutely undeniable energy in their choreography (best dancing boys number at the comp imo)
Proud of Radiance for placing well being that they are all freshman
JA had absolutely wonderful Visual, I could watch that show a million times
Proud of my babies from MC almost made me crei crei
Very good job for Radica earning a spot in finals (best vocals in their division imo)
I spent a total of 16 hours at prep today, and I don't regret it. very well run competition.
Looking forward to JASI2019

Grenada did not come to play this year. PERIOD. Side note Prep looked fantastic during their preview so look for those 2 groups to put in work this season.

Biloxi made me so happy with their show this year! They had a few parts that went wrong but next weekend will definitely be even better than tonight.
