First of all, I'd like to thank John Burroughs HS for putting on another fantastic competition! We hadn't been there in awhile, and it was tons of fun for all of us. The Intermediate Mixed Division was jam-packed with talent, and a lot of fun throughout! A couple of notes, however about this Division...I thought the group from AZ clearly won the competition, and really don't understand their 3rd place award. I'm OK with our placement, given the level of competition, however, I want to say to the "lovely, and CLASSY" kids from Los Alamitos that said "F_LOS ALTOS" as we went up to get our 4th Place award....congrats! Your parents must be so proud of you...

I have been following los alamitos show choir and have attended many of their competitions. Those kids have nothing but respect for their competitors. They will cheer for you, give you a standing ovation, even when the outcome isnt in their favor. Please understand that many of these competitions have hopper seats which allow people to move around from seat to seat that is vacant. And in most cases, to the schools assigned seats. Even with that being said, It is difficult for me to believe that such outburst came from any of the competitors in the audience. I mean, this is show choir and not a basketball game or a football game where alot of this stuff happens. With that being said, maybe you heard it wrong or came from someone else. But to blatantly say they said "F los altos" , thats unheard of and actually pretty silly to acuse them of such thing.

I have the utmost respect for the Los Alamitos program. We've been competing with Connexion for many years, and we love going up against them as it brings out the best in our kids every time. Which is why it was astonishing that I heard what I heard out in the Quad when the awards were handed out. I'm not accusing so much as I'm relaying my incredulity. I only hope that the adults that were standing right there, said something to those couple of kids. I look forward to competing with Los Al again next season.

So it was in the Quad. Even more difficult to determine which group it came from since there must be atleast a couple of hundreds of students including parents and watchers in there. Nevertheless, on behalf of Los Al i apologize. My daughter is in one of the group from los al and i will mention this to her.

You are right, I'll accept that it could have come from somewhere else. I also accept your apology on behalf of the group, and will pass this along to our kids. Again, I admire the program at Los Al, and love the competition we have with them. May it continue with the utmost respect and "sportsmanship". ;)

In my 4 years of traveling to all of the show choir competitions and competing with Los Alamitos. I would find it hard to believe that this came from one of their kids. However, teenagers do/say stupid things sometimes. If it was a Los Al student it will not be taken lightly.

That evening as my daughter and Sound Express walked to the warm up room Los Al greeted them with a barrage of "Good Luck" and "Break a Leg" She could hardly get past Sound FX because of all the hugs.

I’ve been watching for most of the day. I just have to say how impressed I am with Boulder Creek (AZ)! There’s no previous competition record for this choir or even an indication that it existed before this year. They were truly fantastic—shockingly, if they’ve never competed before! Vocally and visually pleasing all around with really great soloists. Just wow!

Los Al was great.

It's hard from a feed, but I'm going to guess Tier II goes:

1) Bonita Vista
2) Mt Eden (learned they're from San Francisco area!)
3) Hart

Left them off inadvertently, but Powerhouse will also be performing at 11:50 pm PDT / 2:50 AM EDT. They're slightly off schedule now, but Music Showcase has been doing a really good job of quick turnarounds unlike many other competitions.

Will there be a copy of the performances on YouTube from the livestream like there is from last night?

Connexion was so good! A nearby school (to me) had a construction theme, and it was very neat to see how they did "Working Day and Night" and "Coffee Break" differently. Also Mike Weaver's choreography style is so easy to tell apart from others; it was shocking in a good way to me to find out that some California schools use him.

Both groups from Walter Reed Middle School have been forced to cancel due to restrictions by their district and have been removed above.
