Thanks for posting these all out. I thought I might've missed some from the live feed. The order of announcing awards seemed odd. So I appreciate it.

I think it’s time AL competitions split into three mixed tiers. Small, Medium, Large? It would spread the wealth more, definitely now that finals are a thing of the past.

Some competitions in the south have this.

The issue is most southern competitions with 3 divisions still have 33 set as a large mixed. With the majority of the groups in the small mixed division in Alabama, they are going to be able to consistently field a choir of about 34-36, but never 45-55 like the rest of the large mixed. We need a small division of up to about 25-27, and then a middle division that allows 35-37 on stage.

The issue with this is schools that have more than one large choir. Schools like Franklin Central have a Advanced mixed of 64 and an Intermediate mixed of 67. This system would cause both of the groups to be in the same tier, like what happened with Homewood this year. I think that homewood's intermediate group should not have to compete with their advanced group, but I agree with the idea of a three tiered system.

I completely agree with Ethan. Noblesville has two Single-Gender choirs, one advanced (New Dimension) and the other intermediate (Sensation), Sensation is a few girls smaller but they compete in tier II whenever the chance is given. I believe that the director of the choir should have the say in which Tier the choir competes in considering the director knows what’s best for the group.

Tier II in the south is stictly by choir size. We do not have "prep divisions" or anything by performance level. Some of that is because there are only three schools that even have a JV mixed group (Homewood, Albertville, and Tift County). If our divisions were laid out by more than stricly the number of performers on stage at any given time, then yes what you and Kadepiper are saying would be good options. Currently, you can either compete against choirs of 32 or 55, no in between (at least in Alabmaa). And aside from the three choirs mentioned above, all mixed groups - both small and large, are advanced mixed groups, For some reason, the show choir of 40 singers just doesn't exist right now.

Just gonna say... Homewood "The Network" is absolutely astonishing! One of the most well thought out shows that I believe I have ever seen. Their vocals are on point, their choreo is on point, and their show is on point. I got chills during both prelims and finals at South Jones Invitational watching this group perform! Whoever gets to see them is in for an absolute treat.

They seem like a completely different group than previous years - almost like the major California groups this year. Curious to see how they do at SCN against Fairfield, Findlay, etc.
