Another great showing Urbandale Studio! I'm so blessed to continue working with you guys each year, and I know your season is just gonna keep rockin' out!
I respect all judges' opinions, but I cannot believe Blackout did not make finals. They were very impressive and performed a great show. Props to them and Mr. Heubner
Oh I feel terrible for the Johnston Innovation Families A Fire alarm in the middle of their performance. The building was evacuated. All the work that goes into a competition.....Sorry. I hope it gets back on track. I hope it was just a knuckle head bumping the alarm and not a real fire. We had to leave.
Yes - this is a pretty common rule, though many Midwest choirs don't utilize it. Specifically at Johnston Showzam, they say "Directors may be on stage and may direct the band and/or choir if they wish". Many competitions have a rule with similar wording to this, we just don't see it much.
Update: The stream is unfortunately down for right now due to technical issues. I'll update if I get any further information about the status of it, but as of now we don't have the livestream running. Sorry for the inconvenience...
The first three really could switch around. Urbandale and Ankeny Centennial competed together this past weekend, but I can see Urbandale definitely stepping up their game this next week! At the UNL Cup, Waconia had a pretty tough competition. Nonetheless, exciting to see how this comp will turn out! Good Luck to all of the groups!!!
GC: Ankeny Centennial "Spectrum" (BV/BC)
1RU: Waukee "Millennium"
2RU: Urbandale "Studio"
3RU: Waconia "Power Company" (BB)
4RU: Elkhorn South "Blackout"
5RU: Lincoln East "Express"
2nd - 4th place spots are definitely up for grabs, and could be any combination of the 3. All 3 of those groups performed well at tough competitions last weekend, after a week of work, we'll see how everything turns out!
Ankeny Centennial always is a powerhouse and this year is no different. Waukee I think will be the closest to giving them a run for their money. Their show has a different appeal than the Titanic show, but still solid and entertaining. (The Waukee vs Ankeny Centennial showdown will be a great preview for the Urbandale competition in February.) Waconia and Urbandale will be battling for 3rd place. Both have similar power in vocals and are continuing to be better year after year.
(These are just my opinions, let me know what you think!)
