Has anyone seen Sioux City East this year live? How will they stack up compared to the rest of these groups?
I would say very well. Their choreo is ultra clean and while they don't have "powerful" vocals like Ankeny or Johnston, they're stunningly beautiful nonetheless.
Ankeny Centennial - N/A (Ankeny Centennial hasn't missed finals in their short existence and we don't have a record of the last time the integrated Ankeny HS missed finals)
My guess would be 2002 or 2003 (which would be at least 2 directors ago as Visual Adrenaline)

I could see Mitchell and SCE switching (just a weird gut feeling)
I could also see Centennial taking BC...I have always thought that from a pure dance perspective, Ankeny has some of the most difficult choreo I've ever seen. This year in particular, Ankeny dabbles in some pretty difficult choreography for a high school level (especially those girls). While their choreo is not as flashy or upbeat as a group like Johnston (which is still unbelievably impressive and superior...that's why I have them with BC) Ankeny's level of difficulty and precision is incredible... this competition should be one for the history books! This really is one of the best competitions of the season in terms of the depth and quality of competing choirs. It is clear that a couple choirs will miss out on finals for the first time in years. Our database is a beast and this upcoming summer I'm focusing on some 2009-2010 archives as those event pages aren't totally complete at the moment. Given the information we have, below is the year in which a choir most recently missed out on finals.

This is really just meant to be some fun information to convey the quality of this competition and how proud all of the programs should be. Finals is a worthy goal, but missing isn't anything to be ashamed of (ex. Wheaton attendees ). As I said, may not be flawless in terms of accuracy but feel free to chime in with additional information for the oldies in the crowd. Good luck to ALL competing schools and good luck to the audience for being able to contain themselves for all of this show choir madness.

Not sure how the rest of the prep groups will place considering they're all so talented and so close to each other in terms of how well they perform. The top 3, on the other hand, are on a different level in my opinion and could compete with other varsity groups and still do really well.
Only a few people so far putting Lincoln Southwest in finals. Making the drive from Lincoln to come watch. This'll be a good one.
I was wondering the same thing. I don't have any good group comparisons to mount a strong argument against that so I hope they can make some noise here. With their show change that got them GC at Lincoln East I think they will do fine.
