Hey guys, I know there is a huge mix up with who got 2nd runner up, and both Brandon and West Jones tied as far as what my director has told the group. There is most likely more to it, as in who actually got the best score, and I'm sure my director will tell our group Monday what we really deserved to get. I have heard that brandon tied yet I've also heard that we got more points in vocals, and knowing that we got more vocal points than grenada, there is a good chance that Brandon may have barely beaten them as well. West Jones is a really good group and it must have had to been a hard decision. And good job to west jones as well

Great competition. It is obvious these judges were not into props. Homewood didn't have any. The others in the top 3 had a minimum.

This was a great competition. All of the groups brought their A game. I was really impressed.

I just saw Homewood's show from the preview night, and their vocals alone could win them most competitions. Clinton will probably beat them at Petal, but even they will have a hard time beating Homewood's vocals this year. I doubt these judges are just "not into props," especially since most score sheets don't have a place where you can award points - or take them away - for props.

Okay now that we have (somewhat) of an Idea how large division worked out, Its time for the 1st ever "BrradReview" :}

I watched mostly all of the performances with the exception of the last few Large groups due to weather concerns (My mom made me come home early). Needless to say, i was still left very happy and very impressed. Im going to start with the:

MIDDLE MIXED:
I saw every group here with the exception of Beech (my stomach was growling). The middle division was definitely outstanding despite the noticeable absence of Oak Grove and Purvis (stay safe). I didn't exactly agree with the judges between the first and second place, BUT I do respect their decisions. Sound Surge absolutely killed it with vocals, and Radica captured my attention with their theme. both groups did have the same ballad number and both did it so much justice! I recommend finding their next competition and taking the time out your day to watch them. you won't be disappointed.

WOMEN'S
ok. okay. okaaayyyy. Elan and West Jones KILLED it. let's start with Elan. I must say the theme was very good and the screen in the vocals were consistently getting better throughout the show. The choreography was clean and sharp and their closer was the "bomb diggity" as my dad would say. unfortunately I did not see West Jones live, (my stomach was growling) but I did watch some from across a cafeteria while stuffing my face with Jackson Prep's amazing food. You can never really go wrong with a theme like that! was great and their choreography was extremely clean. Once again the judges had these two in different spots than i would have, but who am I? Also, Homewood's Legacy was fantastic as well. My favorite part was the girl with the "burn book". you can never go wrong with a mean girls theme, and when (I'm assuming) the director shouted "SHE DOESN'T EVEN GO HERE" I was dying laughing. wonderful.

LARGE MIXED:
So this is where it gets kinda rocky because like I said I was not able to watch all of the Large groups, but I will say that I thought Auburn would place higher than they did. I had the honorable privilege of witnessing the beauty that is the "Visions" group from Grenada do their classic theme. My all time favorite thing about this choir is the facials, FACIALS, FACIALS! Such good facials, and everyone on that stage was in character the whole time (whoever ms.evil lady was who finessed my homie PP, and got thrown in jail... If you need a lawyer, I know a guy.) The other group I got to see was JA, who I was also very surprised to find didn't place as high as I thought they would. My assumption is that when you have this many talented groups that sort of thing happens. I was disappointed that I could not see Brandon's show, I was looking forward to it:{

Im very sad i didn't get to see every choir but I'm glad i came home when i did (there is sleet hitting my window I'm sure. its raining cats and dogs out here). This was a very good competition and I can't wait for next year!

Goodnight! (also I'm sorry in advance for all of the spelling errors, I'm illiterate)

Im certain that West Jones came in first, and Auburn came in 2nd.

I "think" Legacy came in third. the other two did not place. (<--------THIS COULD BE SO WRONG)

I was told that Homewood's only group that placed was Network. I'm surprised that none of this has been posted on Facebook yet.

Same here. Though, it seems the weather is pretty bad down there. I hope folks are prioritizing safety above anything else and it seems like a wise decision to cancel finals. Hopefully once folks are safely at home, they can share more thoughts. I appreciated Brad's rundown and perspective.

From all the info I gather... I understand that Brandon should have been 3rd and West Jones in 4th. This is all just from what I have gained. Very entertaining first competition. Look forward to competing against most of you later on this year!

From what I heard, Brandon scored higher in vocals which would have put their overall slightly higher than West Jones.
