Does my internet connection just suck, or is Aggievision truly terrible? Im trying to watch the live stream and I either get sound or video. Sometimes I get both briefly (I treasure those moments), I really want to watch this competition. I have groups that I want to see. NEED TO SEE!
Is anyone else having this problem or is my Saturday ruined?
It's excellent for me. I switched a couple of months ago from U-Verse to Charter cable, and found most of my issues with streaming resolved with that switch.
I'm very impressed with the video quality, and the audio is great, too.
Heading out for my 90 minute drive--watched most of the morning here, and will be driving during most of the lunch break.
I think it was just that part of my house because, now I am closer to the router and it works! I want to wish all my friends good luck! I'll be watching!
Don't count Oak Mountain out just yet. Their show is pretty incredible. It'll be interesting to see the show down of Homewood, Oak Mountain, and Tift. Definitely watching this live stream
We all thought that last year, and then Homewood won in a blowout, comparible to what they did in 2012. I'm not going to count out Oak Mountain or Tift because I know they're really good, I'm just going with what I have seen and know about Homewood. My score system is very similar to the judges' sheet for this competition, if I'm not mistaken, so that will be how/when I make my final predictions, which almost never match my pre-competition predictions.
This is true. But everyone has a brand new show this year and completely different from last years shows. I have seen Oak Mountain and Tift live and believe they both have awesome shows and I saw Homewood's show on youtube but i'm sure it will be amazing live like it always is.
I've had a child in show choir for 11 years now (had one year of overlap with my oldest and middle child), and this is my final year as my youngest daughter is now a senior. The first thing I want to say is that I think all the shows are incredible. Through the years I have really grown an appreciation for the different styles, flavors and presentations of the shows. Homewood has been great for a long time, and I am very much looking forward to seeing them Saturday in person. Tift County was excellent last week in Montgomery, and Auburn's show was a great different presentation as well. From my name you'll know obviously, I'm biased for "my" school, but I think their show is pretty special this year as well.
Anyway, I was wondering if there was any place where I could see a "score sheet" at least similar to what the judges use? For as many years as I've seen shows, I've just enjoyed them for my own pleasure (and will continue to do so) without regard to "points." But I guess I ought to educate myself eventually on what the judges are looking for so I can "guess" a little better on what they'll decide .
To all in the forums--thanks for the posts here. They are very fun to read, and are enhancing my enjoyment of the performances as well. Really building up the excitement for this weekend, too.
Not crazy about Homewood's performance time being so early in the competition. Not their usual placement. Oak Mtn and Tift will be nearer to the end, which I consider preferable. Will be interesting to see how lack of a final affects the scoring also.
Beyond the finishes:
- don't miss Chelsea. Their Soloist is off the charts and as good as it gets.
- Tift County and Appling County are once again offerring very enjoyable performances
- If you want to see what an up and coming program looks like, watch Vestavia
- Oak Mountain Muses have three soloists who can really blow, and may have the best Ballad of any mixed or womens group I saw in Montgomery
- looking forward to seeing Homewood
- only a couple of points separating Tift and Oak Mountain at Capitol City Classic lest week , and both had small issues they can fix. Who will improve the most in a week?
Homewood has a video up on YouTube if you want the link. However, I can guarantee you that the live performance at Albertville will be better than what is in that video.
I don't have a daughter in the Oak Mountain Muses, but I really love their show this year--which brings to mind--why don't we see more women's groups? I love the mixed show choirs, but the womens' groups are also special, too. I wish there were more. (I missed all the women's groups in Montgomery last weekend, but expect to see them this weekend in Albertville.)
While I'm at it--I get that it's harder to form a men's group, but I always enjoyed the Tallassee and Oak Mountain Craftsmen, when they had a men's group as well. It may not be the classic experience, but very entertaining in a different way, and just made the entire day a little more fun when watching the groups. I am looking forward to seeing the Tallassee men perform in Albertville.
Auburn may have brought it more but they also didn't face any of the three groups that beat them in their first competition. That being said things can change from week to week so any assumptions made about a competition can change in a heartbeat if certain groups elevate and others go through the motions. This should be interesting regardless.
Are you saying that Tift, Oak Mountain, and Albertville are not on the same level as Grenada, West Jones, and Brandon? That seems a little far fetched, at least at this point.
We won't know that until the dust settles on every contest I guess was the point. I don't doubt that these groups can compete at that level, they've all had success and especially Albertville historically. Its just a matter of making the right adjustments and improvements to prove that you can overtake groups that either have beat you or are perceived to be the favorites to beat you. Like I said this one should be intriguing despite what past results this year may lead you to believe. I believe Homewood should and is the favorite here, but I also think it won't be easy because I understand the strength these other groups bring. Frankly, it's good to see more and more groups from the south getting to a higher level and being legit contenders than it was years ago. Makes the GCs more special if you will.
