yes clintons show is anything opposite like black and white is the underlying thing hence the 50s diner floor and the checkered flag and chess while the ballad pulled in for an opposite feel (beauty and the beast) along with smooth criminal

So after watching. It a couple of more times, I have decided that, for my own enjoyment, their show is about opposites trying to be in love. Like maybe a man and a woman being completely different but loving one another.

I think the theme was opposites and/or black and white and how they're opposites! It's a pretty flexible theme, not something super specific with a story line. I feel like Clinton typically goes for that kind of flexible theme which may not be as exciting as some of the shows from other groups, but they never cease to entertain and perform flawlessly!

Who received 1RU? It's unclear in your post. Once we know, we'll be happy to post the placement ribbons!

It's kind of odd what they did, but because Clinton had 9th graders and Petal did not they decided to award a middle school Grand Champion to Petal and then a Jr. High Grand Champion to Clinton. On the score sheet Clinton had outscored Petal. Everyone there seemed a little confused about it, but my understanding is Petal was awarded 1RU for that reason. Hope that clears things up.

Edit- Just realized that I forgot to list Petal in my original post. It's been corrected. Sorry for the confusion.

Would anyone mind explaining Clinton's show to me? I saw it and it was performed great, but I just did not know what the theme was supposed to be, other than black/white and maybe chess?

Anyways, though, I don't think that was the original poster's point. It's a valid discussion item, if that's your intent, but I imagine Trey was just interested in learning more about Clinton's show.

Like Trey, I am interested in learning more about Clinton's show. It started out with a 50's feel, but then transitioned into a kings and queens/chess type of theme with a motorcycle scene in the mix also. My perspective on it is that the underlying theme is choices, but I could be missing the message. I hope that someone can clarify, because they executed it extremely well!

....does there have to be a theme?

I mean, I realize most shows do nowadays, but I think groups can still just put together a great sounding and looking show without an underlying theme or story.

Agreed. I've actually been finding myself to enjoy more basic themes and classic type shows this year. Some shows are just going kind of completely overboard for my taste. Anyways, though, I don't think that was the original poster's point. It's a valid discussion item, if that's your intent, but I imagine Trey was just interested in learning more about Clinton's show. Clinton has been pretty heavy into the theme/story type show the past several years. I mean what was it, like 2008, the last year they didn't have one?

Yes, Homewood is planning to build a new high school in the coming years. Hopefully the new high school will have a large auditorium and a better loading dock area (bit of a pain to get large sets on and off haha).

Thanks--will look forward to that. You've created a monster of a show choir competition and deserve a great facility for it!

Shout out to Petal. Y'alls show is extremely solid this year! I can't wait to see how well y'all do at Fairfield.

Same. I was very impressed with their show. I love Clinton, but Petal was extremely entertaining, and very well performed. I loved how it all connected.

I don't think I've ever been to a competition that was that strong. I saw eight incredibly talented, hard-working, well designed and created, well choreographed, and well performed shows from eight schools. And I'm just talking about the large mixed groups; I saw only parts of the other categories, and they were good, too--so I don't mean to disrespect any of them.

A very fun day.
