For conversation's sake, can anyone talk to me about why random finals performance order is better than order picked by daytime placements (or some variation of this)? From my personal experience, it never seems to leave a good taste in anyone's mouth, so I would just love to hear another opinion on it!
Most competitions in the south have a random finals performance order (unless two groups from the same school make finals). It always seemed like a fair system to me, in that no group is awarded a better time slot than the others based daytime placements. Thus, there is the feeling that all groups still have a chance place higher. For example, a group in 5th gets to perform last, they might feel like that is the *prime* performance spot, so they might put even more into the performance for the chance to move up. Of course, we then get into the discussion of if order has any significant effect on placements.
It's also a bit exciting to find out when you're going to get to perform!

I'm not sure it's better, but I think it adds a bit of intrigue. I think there are some comps in maybe Wisconsin that basically have their finals in reverse placement order. Which then as I go to update final results, is almost always the same as daytime placements. I think there are some comps where the director in first place gets to select their slot first, second place director picks second, etc. I don't mind that. It may end up that they select reverse order anyways, but that doesn't always happen. If there hadn't been the multiple groups from the same schools in finals scenario here, I imagine random order would've been a more efficient way of determining finals since directors and contest folks wouldn't have had to meet up. I don't know that I really care what determines finals order, but those are just some thoughts since things have slowed down and I have some time.

FC and WV also switched captions from the last time they met. Really just shows how evenly matched they are.

The 5th Annual Chesterton Trojan Classic will be held - FEBRUARY 18, 2017
Located in Northwest Indiana and only an little over an hour from the city of Chicago, Chesterton would make a great competition for you to attend. All performances are held in our auditorium and we hire professional sound company to make sure your performers are heard as well as they are seen.
We offer three divisions - all groups have the opportunity to earn a spot in Finals.
Single-Gender (Any Size)
Small Mixed/Prep (36 Singer/Dancers or less)
Large Mixed/Varsity (37 Singer/Dancers or more)
We offer a solo competition that provides instant judges feedback and the opportunity to win a scholarship to attend show choir Camps of America.
Additionally, there is a critique session immediately following your groups performance on stage. Here one of our fantastic critique judges will give you feedback from the judges on your performance as well as tips to help continue to take your show to the next level.
Our school is spacious, we work to offer many types of food options as well as to accomodate special dietary needs (gluten free items/vegetarian/etc.).
