The morning has come and gone and it's time for the afternoon lunch break. After watching all of the Prep groups, here are my predictions:
1st: St. Francis
2nd: Bloomington Jefferson
3rd: Bloomington Kennedy
St. Francis Prep was phenomenal. I am so glad to see such a strong performance from a school with such a young program and I am excited to see their Varsity group perform.
I won't be able to watch all of the Open Class groups and I haven't seen any of the shows this year so I will refrain from making any predictions to that end. However, I would like to go on the record saying I would not be surprised* if St. Francis Prep makes it into finals.
Great work to all the groups who have performed so far. It is turning out to be a nice day of Show Choir. Waconia is doing a good job of keeping things on schedule. Here's to a successful afternoon!
Jay, I'm not sure how long we've been doing finals this way as far as scheduling goes. A huge benefit is that it prevents groups from having to go nearly back to back without much time to get rest from prelims to finals. Also, in a situation where both the prep and varsity group from the same school make finals, it allows for enough time between shows for students who perform in both as band/crew in one and singer/dancer in another.
Not sure what the drawbacks would be, but we would like to hear constructive feedback if there are!
That is correct. Sioux Falls Washington will not be attending due to concerns with the weather on our return trip late Saturday. We are extremely disappointed as we were looking forward to a great show choir day! Good luck to all the attending groups. So sorry we can't support the Waconia program tomorrow by attending the day they are hosting.
I'm interested.... How long have you guys been doing this finals schedule for (same order as day round)? Does it seem to work well? What are some advantages and disadvantages?
We had to change the schedule for the day to accommodate out of state groups' schedules. So here is the new schedule:
Thanks for the new schedule! It has been updated and we have added "The Pulse" to our database Just to clarify... the two mens groups are in a separate division from the 9:20-12:40 groups, yes?

Hmmmm this one will be very interesting!! Can't wait to see what happens here.
I don't know these groups very well so don't kill me
GC: Kenmidji
1RU: Bennedy
2RU: Totino
3RU: St. Francis
4RU: Jefferson
5RU: SF Washington
Okay so I couldn't really decide what to do but I believe that it will be close between 1 and 2.
I love me some Bemidji and they dance very very well, but I also loved Kennedy last year when I saw them when Millard West went to La Crosse, and they recently took BC and GC to Onalaska which is certainly a huge accomplishment.
I'm not sure if Hastings or the Saint Paul schools have anything going on at the middle school level.
Hastings does not have a middle school show choir.
Predictions-
GC: RIG
1RU: Bemidji
2RU: Totino-grace
3RU: St. Francis
4RU: Sioux Falls Wash
5RU: Bloom. Jefferson Really anything could happen but from these past few weeks of show choir this is how i see it good luck to everyone
Oh whoops I initially typed "Middle School Division" and then realized I should change it, but then forgot to delete "Division."
One of the groups is actually a Bloomington school, but all are performing as exhibition and receiving judges comments and a critique.
Middle school show choir is much more laid back in Minnesota, with only Saint Francis, Valley View (The Bloomington school), and Waconia having groups that perform as exhibition at competitions, that I'm aware of. Bemidji's middle school starts their show choir in January and they perform in late May. Totino doesn't have a middle school, so naturally they don't have one. I'm not sure if Hastings or the Saint Paul schools have anything going on at the middle school level.
I understand now. Thank for the clarification! (And the schedule!)
Thanks for the schedule! Some questions regarding the "Middle School Exhibition" division:
Are all three groups hosts of the competition?
Are they performing in "exhibition" but still competing against each other somehow?
I'm confused as to why they have a division name if they're all in exhibition. Sorry
