Pretty excited for this one! Pleasant Hill has always been a huge competition for Missouri, and with 8 finalists, it seems to pretty much solidify that!
And just for kicks, ill give some predictions
GC: Rock Bridge 'City Lights' (BV, BC)
1RU: O'Fallon 'Great Expectations'
2RU: Oak Park 'Oak Street Singers'
3RU: Harrisonville 'Music Makers' (BB)
4RU: Rock Bridge 'Satin N Lace'
5RU: Smith-Cotton 'New Score Singers'
6RU: Atchison 'Adrenaline'
7RU: Hannibal 'River City Revue'
Schedule is added! Pretty big event and 8 finalists is certainly the most of really any competition during the year. 6 finalists from the gym puts them on par with most other Midwestern events and is more inclusive of excellent groups, like Adam said, which would seem to be the point when you name your competition the Battle of the Best.
edit: not to say the bigger schools are necessarily the more excellent groups, I guess what I was trying to say was that I find mandated finalists from certain divisions ironic especially with the title of this event being Battle of the Best.
GC- Rock Bridge (BV, BC, BB)
1st RU- O'Fallon
2nd RU- Harrisonville
3rd RU- Atchison
4th RU- Rock Bridge Girls
5th RU- Smith Cotton
6th RU- Jefferson City
7th RU- Oak Park
Which one? Women's or a bigger finals?
Allowing more finalists from the large schools in the gym.
Speaking from Muscatine's experience- Traveling 6 hours, receiving 5th in prelims (a point away from 4th) judged by only two judges (one having us 2nd in vocals/5th in choreo and the other having us 2nd in choreo/5th in vocals), and then not making finals wasn't exactly fun. But it's all good!
We learn, live, and grow! It's what show choir is about... for all students and directors alike.
(and yes... I know I'm opening myself up to lots of down votes. Totally fine with that.)
8 choirs make finals at this competition. 2 from the Performing Arts Center and 6 from the Gym. The Womens/prep division is split up into a 1a-3a division and a 4a-5a division.
Good to see they made this change. It was definitely needed.
