Clinton has never come to Southern Showcase... but next year would be a good time to start Alot of the Mississippi show choirs don't like to drive ALL the way to East Alabama. I'm still waiting for Clinton, Petal, and South Jones to all come to Southern Showcase in the same year... along with all the regulars (that is of course unless Homewood says NO to a stage performance and YES to a basketball court performance AGAIN). It does hurt though for Southern Showcase to be on the same day as PRCC because alot of the Mississippi show choirs would likely go there. Does anyone know if the PRCC and Southern Showcase are on the same day again next year?

Nah guys where have yall been? Destiny's Child is breaking up, so i'm pretty sure they won't be there to put on another great show. Lol. I still say Ciara and Luda and Lil Jon will be there. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

But ok, if Clinton and Petal are both there, along with Homewood and Opelika and everyone else, I just might have to roadtrip it!

Depends...do the words "speed limit" mean anything to you?

When we take charters for show choir to Homewood/Birmingham, it takes us around 3 hours to get there from Ellisville. I guess it just depends on the number of stops you hafta make for restroom and and snack breaks. ;)

Heh....

Cody es muy excitedo!

Sweet!!! I'm hoping that you guys start a trend... because EVERY SCHOOL that doesn't host a comp... SHOULD!!! It's great to hear! I hope Opelika attends. Btw, how far down I-59 from Birmingham is Ellisville. I takes about 2 hours for me to get to Bham from ATL, and I'm guessing it's another couple of hours to get to Ellisville from Bham?

As many of you know, us Southerners have only had a handful of quality competitions to attend each season. Most regions actually have about 20-25 different ones throughout the course of a season, but The South has never had more than 7 competitions held in one season, from Mississippi to Tennessee, and back down to Florida.

But now, a new competition has been thrown into the mix, starting off the 2006 season:

The 1st Annual South Jones show choir Invitational

This brand new event is to be held in the Jones County Junior College Performing Arts building, running both Friday, January 27th and Saturday, January 28th. Here are a few of the details and advantages to the competition:

* JCJC is home to an acoustically designed auditorium, with a very spacious stage for performances. Also present are built in changing rooms back stage, as well as excessive wing space for costume changes and such.

* All choirs will have an assigned homeroom, designed as a meeting place for their choir, as well as a place for them to change costumes before and after performances.

* All said homerooms, as well as the warm-up room, are planned to be conveniently located in the same building as the auditorium, so there will be no need for cross-campus trudges through the cold, January weather.

* Student guides/hosts who ALL are familiar with the necessary locations will be provided for each group.

* A junior high/middle school show choir competition will be held Friday night, followed by a high school show choir competition Saturday.

* A solo competition will be held for contenders of all competing show choirs.

* Quality concessions will be available for purchase, so you don't have to go looking for somewhere to eat, in a town that you don't know your way around all too well.

* Should you decide on an alternative food choice, located close nearby are several fast food restaurants, including the locally owned favorites "KaRocks" (pronounced Kay-Rocks) Chicken and KaBobs, and Charlie's Catfish, McDonalds, Subway, Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Sonic.

* JCJC is located just off of I-59, making it quite simple to find your way to the competition, without tons of backroads and tough navigation through a large, busy town (Ellisville isn't large and busy by any means, I was simply trying to make a point ;) ).

For more information on the competition, or for answers to any questions you may have, feel free to send me a Personal Message by simply clicking here, or send me an email at [email protected].

Looking forward to a great competition season already!
