There is no danger of a sell out. I seriously doubt that anyone will be turned away. Here in the Midwest, competitions will sell more tickets than there are seats if there is the demand. People will be sitting on the floor if need be. At some competitions they may then tell the actual participants to sit in the overflow seating area with a large monitor. Find a good seat early and keep it.
They also use their auditorium as an overflow room with the groups being projected in there.
GC: John Burroughs BC
1RU: Waubonsie BB
2RU: Carmel BV
3RU: Hastings BB
4RU: Buffalo Grove
5RU: Wheaton North
6RU: Naperville North BB
After this past weekend I added a lot of firsts for Carmel, just thought I'd add this note because before they were getting a lot of 3rd and 4th placements from the community (P.S. I saw Carmel at John Hersey and WOW)
We should have a combined SCC rankings for after we all watch the competition.

Jen Oundijan is an incredible show designer who has created diverse (yet extraordinarily entertaining and mind-boggling) choreography for Powerhouse each year. The choreo she uses perfectly portrays the theme each year for Powerhouse and brings a more theatrical element to show choir. Although I do agree that the choreo is certainly different, i would not say it is worse! It is all in the interest of their show design!
Jen Oundjian is not the only one who has been choreographing in the last 4-5 years. Matt Cady, Erik Hall, Alex Hall, Emily DePauw, Gerald Espinosa, and Marie Guterriez all have produced fantastic choreography for Powerhouse.
Hastings is undefeated and that is amazing however, looking at their competitions they haven't had to compete against top notch groups (Not trying to take away anything from the groups they have competed against at all)
Although I agree it will be difficult for Hastings to walk out of here with another sweep, are Waukee, Linn-Mar, Xavier, Wheaton-Warrenville South, and Wash not top notch groups?
Is it just me or is Powerhouse's choreo not as good as years past? Their vocals are really good but the choreography department seems to lack a bit. the male soloist in the 2nd song is REALLY good and I'm predicting he'll win best male soloist. also the 2nd female soloist after him is WICKED good. Ballad gave me chills.

Did we still want to possibly have an SCC meet-up on Friday night like we had mentioned a while ago or no? I know me and Kyler would probably be in if plans are made for it, but obviously it's up to everyone, not just us
Just out of curiosity, does WWS not have an auditorium to host the competition in? It just doesn't seem like a gym is the best place for such a high-profile competition.
Adding to previous comments, the sound system is absolutely incredible with a lighting system to match. While it's obvious you aren't in an auditorium, it's far from obvious that you're in a gym.
Predictions:
GC: Carmel (Vocals/Visuals)
1RU: John Burroughs
2RU: Waubonsie Valley
3RU: Buffalo Grove
4RU: Hastings
5RU: Naperville North (Band)
I have seen all of these groups live besides Burroughs and Buffalo Grove. My predictions changed a great deal after Chicagoland where Carmel put on one of the best shows if not the best show I've seen out of anyone all season. Hastings has very powerful vocals, however their choreo compared to Carmel, Waubonsie, and Burroughs will hurt them enough to move them into 4RU. Naperville North has really killed it this year and I loved their show. I have only heard good things about Buffalo Groves show this year. After seeing Burroughs show on YouTube, I can confidently say they are as good as usual (Which is a good thing). Excited to see how this all plays out!

There is an auditorium that hosts overflow with a direct live feed from the gym throughout the day, but seating is far too limited compared to the space available in the gym. Back in the day, we used to host a choir competition in the auditorium in addition to the solo competition in the library and main show choir competition in the gym, but that portion of the contest was removed some time ago. The truly spectacular stage we are able to set up in the gym and the judges platform we are able to build at the top of the bleachers for the best view possible help to make this competition what it is. While bleachers are not always an ideal seating situation in terms of comfort, it does allow us to pack in as many audience members as possible which is helpful in a situation like this - and there really is no bad seat. As someone who has been with the Choral Classic since 2008, I can confidently say we have the best setup possible with the options available.
TL;DR - Yes, we have an auditorium, but the gym seats many more people and allows for an incredible stage setup.
